still drives a stick shift
|
He kept trying to go outside and he gets in trouble when he gets outside. He ran out one night and got in a fight with the neighborhood tom cat and had 2 big puncture wounds, or he gets stuck under the neighbors deck and can't figure out how to get out. So the leash keeps him safe when we grill and have to open the patio door.

Knowing most cats, I'm guessing that the moment the leash goes on he just collapses and loses all motor function in protest.

How could you tell they were ladies?!
Some of them had the helmets off. Others in high heeled boots.

Bart is always on the verge of this. Always. I'm the only one who can easily see it and knows what is going to trigger him. I can run around the house naked singing opera (a usual thing, of course) and he might deign to track me with one ear. The old lady clears her throat or shifts slightly and he's gone in a cartoon spinning legs/dust cloud thing. You can hold him just fine in two positions, try to hold him like a normal cat - Tasmanian devil. 26 lbs of it, with 26 claws.

I don't want to say all, because I know some relatively normal cat people. However, some cat people are ridiculous.

Yes. I'm not sure if I love my fiancee more than my cat (and she knows it). But I would never use something stupid like that. There are people who love cats and then there are misfits who wear cat sweaters and lick their cats. Besides, you should get a Furminator, not some cheap plastic piece of crap.

More cats on leashes! We tried this at Christmas with the smarter and more unruly of our two kittens. He'd shutdown for about 15-20 minutes before exploring. We quickly abandoned the idea. Bonus gif.

I've tried, too. Lister just went dead weight and Magenta tore around the house trying to get it off. I was worried she'd hurt herself so we never tried again. We actually never made it outside with either of them. Just as well.

Pretty sure Bart would love that happycow device. He's always rubbing his face on his favorite wood block with bolts and staples sticking out of it.

Just cats in general. My grey-white-tabby male, Perseus, has destroyed three lampshades because the fixture is just the right height for him to rub against constantly.

I always did think it was a little odd, considering his politics, they made it such a soviet centered card in that game. Probably would have been better to use him as a duel use card.

The ZAP flareout when it makes the connection to the ground is just awesome. That being said, 7000 frames per second? Holy fuck.

It's amazing what digital tech has done for high-speed capture. Trying to accomplish the same thing with analog would have been mindbending amounts of effort and money.

if you're interested in high-performance analogue photography, you should check out this video. It's a couple of NASA camera nerds talking about the tech they used to capture technical footage of Shuttle launches. It was all analogue and they had cameras covering every part of the launch platform to spot abnormalities. Some high-speed cameras and some cameras in extremely hostile environments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFwqZ4qAUkE&hd=1

I know right? And that's what really got me: 7000 frames per second was not nearly enough to get the formation of that flareout. As far as we've come, there's always that more to go
