Someone has released an archive of 10,000 publicly available images that astronauts took on the Moon missions. Some amazing pics in these Theres 142 pages of images.

Someone is making a rimdark Power Puff Girls comic. It's actually pretty good, but it's long.

i'm not sure how many rules I'm breaking, pic is not mine, so sorry in advance!  But this pic is truly awesome. And scary! And fairly big.

I'm afraid that one needs some explanation, despite its awesomeness without said explanation.

well, it's not mine and I don't know where it's from other than maybe someplace using some or all of the following words in it's name: "bilder-woche-ladybower-reservoir-england-ueberlauf".  But it looks to be the output (or whatever the heck you call the opposite of an intake, drain?) of a reservoir, probably feeding into either a power turbine, irrigation network, or water purification plant.  I do know for quite sure that I don't want to stand or swim anywhere near it!

It is apparently the overflow drain. Some videos of the Ladybower Reservoir:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg-mjoLm1Jo (around 40 you can see this thing running in realtime).

This guy actually climbs down it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5BVsk9o9hw

Yeah, I was going to say overflow drain. Look at how high the water is to the top of the dam. It's that big because it needs to be to ensure the right amount of water is draining and the dam isn't overtopped.

Do NOT watch if you don't want to see giant pythons.
For everybody else, just had to post this. Those are some beautifully colored specimen.

The black one that's moving back towards the camera is a really interesting looking color. But man, in that second one, the white python is not a snake he should be sitting around with. That's one pissed off snake and at that size it could actually hurt him.

And I say that as someone who has been draped in phytonutrients before...but much smaller and more docile.

EDIT: No idea what happened with that autocorrect - that should read Pythons.

Since we are on a snake theme... this is a drop dead gorgeous snake, with emphasis on the dead part. But the scale pattern is amazing.

I was trying to figure out why being draped in phytonutrients was relevant--and what a smaller, more docile one was like.

I have heard said before that albino pythons are generally very docile, because they are blind as hell (and may have other problems) and generally unable to fend for themselves at all.  Maybe it was being playful!

Okay, I'll admit AI watched all of the second video just because Khaldun mentioned pissed off snake.  I wanted to see it attacking that idiot bothering it.

I feel nearly certain he's going to get seriously hurt one of these days.

The goofball kidding around with a Gaboon viper is also seriously asking for it. Frankly no one besides a zoological institution or antivenom producer should own a Gaboon viper, green/black mamba, cobra, krait, etc.

You should check out his other stuff... his herp room has every kind of death you can imagine - name a venomous snake and he probably has a video of it in his room. And he has been doing this (as well as breeding and shipping snakes to museums and zoos) for a very long time.

He says he started doing vids and social media for the education of it rather than the entertainment or the wow factor. I find him fascinating given if you'd ever meet him on the street, you'd never know and just think another redstater.

No, people said, "That guy's fucking crazy and going to get himself or his kids killed."

We loved him for the craziness, but it was widely recognized he was the good kind of loony. Particularly after the crocodile and baby incident.

Yup steve irwins death was always a matter of when not if. But he had fast reflexes and generally did understand the animals/reptiles he was interacting with well. That a sting ray got him was kind of surprising generally they are not terribly agressive and if they do hit you it tends to be painful but not really deadly. It was just a perfect fluke shot of a spooked ray.

And Irwin really didn't want to get into the water as he knew water slows you down, meaning he could not use his raw speed to get out of the way if something happened. He knew his limits but unfortunately the film crew didn't.

It does make you a smaller target without compromising your mobility the way a kneeling or prone stance would. It's still a bad idea (your accuracy is so bad you'd be better off firing blind around the corner), but it's not the *worst* 'stupid things with guns' mistake you can make. How to quickly transition from a kneeling or prone position to standing, duckwalk, or crawl (as needed) is something you learn in Basic (along with the types of cover and the difference between 'cover' and 'concealment'), which these guys never had. Typical untrained irregular urban tactics involve a lot of jumping out into the open, unloading a clip in the vague direction of the enemy, and jumping back to cover.
