OK, this is the op thread, sign up here for the next frigate club op on March 1st, starting in Dital at 20:00 Eve TimeSet your clone to Naeel, 2 jumps from Dital (Thanks Ajax).

The Big Picture

Following, erm, widespread consultation, this one will be a bit of a combination of experiences, to give people a bit of a taste for 0.0 life.  We'll try some gatecamping, then we'll do a roam through 0.0 space, hunting targets in association with the local defence forces.  At the end, if people want, we can swap into disposable ships and go to Delve to see the warzones (if we get that far), so people can say that they were in Delve uring the great war (getting shot by both sides).

--------------

Ladies and Gentlemen: Your Schedule

For the gatecamp, feel free to bring bigger ships if you like: obviously don't fly anything in PvP that you're not prepared to lose, but this will not be a suicide op, and we will aim to stay alive and fighting.  This is a much safer way of waging war than normal (cue party wipe).

First we will move between 2 or 3 gates on the border between highsec and 0.0, camping each.  We will be fairly close to the jumping-off point, so people turning up late will be able to join in easily.  I have one or two dictor pilots signed up already, so we should be able to do the gatecamping properly.

After that phase, people who want to swap into their throwaway ships can do so, since we'll be within a few minutes of Dital.  We'll then head into deep Providence or Catch, have a ten-minute break at a staging POS for those who need it (or who have never seen a POS), then roam through 0.0 space, using the local defence channels to find reds to shoot.  You can never be sure when hunting humans instead of NPCs, but our chances of finding a suitable fight this way are much higher than random roaming.

Finally, if there is the interest, I'll try and get us as close to Delve as possible, either through Catch or Aridia, depending on the time.  There is a pretty good chance of success, and if anyone wants they can then take a screenie of themselves shooting station services in Delve space to show their virtual grandchildren.  If we have any pro-Bob folks we can balance that by a suicidal run at QY-6  awesome, for real

Our Allies

We've had a few folks from a 0.0 corp I run - Deii Feram - on each of the frigate ops so far, as well as one or two from another corp in the same alliance.  This time, we'll start off with more people from Aegis Militia on our side, including one or two in interdictors.  when we are hunting reds there is also the chance of others from holder alliances joining in.  It should be a good taste of flying alongside expensive ships in 0.0 warfare.

If you are red to CVA use an alt!!!  This should not be a problem for anyone who doesn't know, but feel free to evemail Justinianus Flavius and I will tell you your standings if you are in doubt.  NPC corps, BC and F13 are fine. I don't mind you coming along (though best exercise don't ask don't tell with locals if you come, Slay  NDA )

What To Fly

For the gatecamp - whatever you like.  It doesn't matter if you can only afford or fly small ships: w'll be delighted if you use a destroyer for tons'o'damage for very low cost: you will murder interceptors and other smaller stuff that the big guys simply can't hit.  Fit a tracking enhancer or tracking computer (depending on your slot layout) to terrify fast targets.

For the roaming op: whatever you are comfortable with.

For the delve operation: frigates.  By all that is holy, just frigates.

Scramblers are less important since we'll have interdictors and maybe interceptors, though we will need some.  20km disruptors on frigates, but don't bother on the bigger ships.  Webs will be vital, however, as a lot of people we might meet will be in roaming nanohacs.

As usual, I will have pre-fitted frigates ready to hand out as replacements in Dital.

Count me in, and due to my current split from Viper Squad I should have absolutely no standings issues :) YAY!

I'll probably grab something cheap like a Brutix. (then put 100's of millions of isk into fittings and rigs....j/k)

If people dont mind posting what they are flying, I kinda like making the post with pictures of ship types with names.

There until 0300 eve-time then I've gotta bounce.  Not sure what I'm going to fly, will depend on what kind of iskies I can make this week.  Can you post in WAR or PM me with where I should stash a frig or 2 for the suicide parts Endie?

No real secret: Dital is highsec, will be fine for storing stuff and will let us choose which route to go for the denouement.

I'll do my best to be there. My schedule is pretty volatile right now. If I make it, there's no telling what I'll be flying. Could be a cruiser. Could be a battleship. Could be a covops. Could be a force recon.  awesome, for real

Count me in. How important is EW in a camp? I can fly a drake if we need DPS or my trusty blackbird. By this point I'll bring my alt in a covops for gate scouting and such as well.

Its rare to find a situation where EW is bad. At a gate camp you can pick your range. Be careful though, nano-hacs and ceptors can swarm you very quick and escape everyone else if you are too far from the rest of the crew. If you are aware you should have no probs.

I hope to make it, probably a Ferox for the gate camp and a caracal or frigate for the roaming.

I'm really not sure what to fly. I'm thinking Incursus or Tristan or maybe a Catalyst for the gatecamp. Do catalysts suck? I've tried planning one in EFT and it doesn't look too bad apart from only having 2 mids. Worth bringing one? Any advice on fitting would be appreciated :)

A catalyst is great for a gate camp: it has a relly surprisingly large alpha-strike for its cost, and can track small ships dangerously well.

Ok, I can afford to lose a catalyst :) Cat for gatecamp then. Ok to talk fittings in this thread or should I take it elsewhere?

This is a general op thread: what to fit for it seems fine.  As long as it doesn't end up as a "destroyers suck", "no they don't" thread.

Can't wait
I'll be in a Ferox if I don't have a chance to put together a pvp Drake by then.  Might opt for a Merlin on the frontlines but the ferox is old news for me and not afraid to loose it as I use a Drake for my missioning now.

Mids: AB, RSD

I don't personally aim to live while flying a destroyer. I fit nothing but tracking mods, damage mods, and sensor boosters on my Thrashers.

No stations in Dital at all, just belts and gates.

Closest Empire-side clone station in Naeel, 2 jumps from Dital.  I've parked myself there for now.
