I maintained a sub for ages.  I had canceled for a while and then resubbed when Villains came along, which lasted until a month or so ago. with very intermittent playing.  I'll probably play again for the xtra xp weekend... I like those... and then cancel again.  I played a lot when Villains came out but generally the game only keeps my attention for about a month before the lack of content, same old tile sets and mission types, and level grind sets in.

I think the key is to have 3 characters.  One that can fly, one that can super jump, and one with super speed.  Then fly/jump/run around with a glowy and a cape until it gets old.  Kill large groups of greens.  Get bored and cancel.

AND make sure you have a mix of villains and heroes.  It's all true, though.

On the patch currently on the Training Room and likely to go live before the Double XP weekend:

Quote
• XP Curve Adjustment: Enemy XP values (and Influence/Infamy dropped) have been increased across nearly all levels. The size of the increase directly relates to datamined leveling speeds for characters, so levels where characters have found themselves ‘stuck’ or ‘slowed’ will have enemies of that level’s XP increased more than other levels. Enemy Levels with the greatest increase in XP rates are: 13 to 20, and 36 to 50. Other levels have had smaller, but still significant, XP and Inf. adjustments. This may mean that characters will find it impossible to do ‘all’ the content of a given level range before outleveling it.
• Debt incurred for being defeated has been lowered by 20% across all levels.

The "XP curve smoothing" really means increased XP across the board 50%-300% (1.5x-4x) so that combined with the double XP weekend could mean 3x-8x XP

The current patch on Test which includes the new exp curve will not go in before the weekend:

I was a bit disappointed to see that. Then again, I think they wanted the patch in sooner but various QA / balance issues stopped that from happening.

As it stands, it means a 2XP weekend followed by an XP adjustment followed by a Valentine's Day event (where allegedly Manticore and Sister Psyche are getting married for in-game lore purposes).

If he's anything like he is in the CoH lore, he will PK you at some point. You have been warned.

... but seriously, he and Positron wrote the comic where the engagement happened, so I think he's okay being stealed.

Your avatar was crying when I got to this post.  It always manages to be on the correct frame for the context of the post.

It kills me, lo these many years later, that they turned off the ability to do this. There was nothing more fun in beta than super jumping into super speedy flight. Years later I was reminded of that when Nathan Petrelli did it in Heroes...

Double huh too...

I have super jump and super speed and can use them together.   Or did you mean you can't combine fly with super speed or super jump?

Lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth on the forums as Freedom spends most of its prime time hours yesterday and today "locked" (people trying to login can't but players inside the game are unaffected except they can't switch characters, etc.). Virtue was also (very) temporarily locked this evening. Apparently with server transfers and whatnot Freedom has more active players on it than anytime in its history.

I think you used to be able to use the speed boost from super speed to make flight faster maybe?  Though I don't remember that, I was only in late beta.

Fly was always the slowest of the travel as far back as I can remember. Also doesn't explain the reference to Super Jump. You can slot Flight Speed in Swift, though, for that extra speed boost.
