Playstation Network has a long way to go before it can compete with XBox Live Arcade, but Everyday Shooter is probably my favorite offering so far from either service.  A modern top-down shooter in the style of Asteroid, most comparable to its cousins Geometry Wars and Mutant Storm, it absolutely blows everything else out of the water.

Game play consists solely of using the two analog sticks, one to move your "ship" and one to aim/fire.  What makes Everyday Shooter unique is its utilization of music in the game play.  Simple and catchy, each level is only as long as the song that is attached to it which prevents the music from becoming repetitive as it does in many other games.  More importantly, every time you hit an enemy it makes a short note that is in-key with the music.  This creates a beautifully chaotic melody to coincide with the soundtrack, and it just plain works.  Beyond that, you face off against massive swarms of enemies and the game can be quite challenging.

Gorgeous graphics, a wonderful soundtrack and compellingly simple game play.  If you have access to the Playstation network and haven't picked this up yet you simply must.  There's nothing else that's as pleasing to play for the price tag, period.

Buy it.
