Moose are docile.

They're so docile that Alaska's wildlife department has a page about what to do about aggressive moose.

Yeah, maybe not normally a problem, but they can be.

Moose are vicious killing machines.

I know a number of moose related deaths occur each year, normally via a car driving into a moose. Also, if you're not careful, some bastard will come quote the credits to a Monty Python flick at you, and he probably has never actually seen anything but that film.

I hate those guys.

Hilarious.  You can't really blame WoW, though, kids have been imitating the stuff they're into for a long time.

In other news, as of today Windows Update wants me to install a piece of software that verifies I have an authentic copy of Windows XP and, if it deems I do not, give me happy little reminders from time to time.  Considering I do, in fact, have an authentic copy of Windows XP I would normally be happy to do this but I understand they have an identical mechanic in Windows Vista which malfunctioned horribly.

Moose are just one of those animals that are so large, docile or not, you want to keep away.  ACK!

I live close enough to moose country to have heard stories about them becoming very territorial in certain unexpected places.  Like main street.

Any docile animal will become aggressive if you intrude upon their area, especially if they have young.  Being docile also explains why it stopped attacking once the threat was deemed gone.

C'mon people.  This should now be our sound bite everytime a politician tries to use violent videogames as their platform to awesome.

Actually at some times of the year moose can be very very dangerous. Also some thing will trigger them to become agressive such as dogs. On the big alaskan sled dog races all racers are requried to have a high power rifle. It aint for polar bears its for moose. Moose hate dog packs and have been known to attack dog sled teams.

Also when the males are in rut they are VERY agressive and any animal that large if it chooses to just rough you up a bit to make you go away could do serious or fatal damage to a human.

Truth be known, I'd been itching to get that off my chest, but I didn't think it justified its own thread.  Then I found this thread which was similarly unqualified and decided it had room.

I lived in northern Maine for 6 years in the 90s.  You don't fuck with moose, and you sure as hell do not want to be near them.

I grew up on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. Moose in wintertime are hungry and pissed off. They still won't attack you without provocation, but the trick is what provocates a moose? Does he think you're going to try and eat him? Does she have a baby nearby?

A pissed off moose will do the fucking fandango on your ass.

Are they in rut?  Deer, elk, and moose go batshit during this period.  Seriously.  Drunken frat boys aren't as crazy.
