Good job GamePro, you cards.

Also, what a retarded plot premise.

Gimme the jist of it. I'm waiting to play this on my own, so I don't want to ruin it. GamePro put out a video that totally ruins the game?

Sort of. It actually doesn't seem that big a deal really, since it doesn't give away the ending as far as i can tell, just 'a twist'. But, um, yea, i agree with Fabricated... River Tam does it better. Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

Gamepro had this video up on their website under a generic cinematic label, but it pretty much gives away a huge twist that has not been made very evident thus far.

From what I've heard, the "twist" is actually given away within the first couple minutes of the game.

Reviews seem to be all over the place for this game. I really want to try it out. To be honest though, the combat and investigation portions seem like they can become  somewhat stale. And that video had some awful acting. " I don't even know you people..."  Ohhhhh, I see.

I had high hopes for this game and most of the reviews are coming out as 'great potential that never gets realized'. Lots of 7/10's and meh reviews. For a game this hyped to be getting luke-warm reviews doesn't bode well imo

The only "low" review (I want to go on a schild like rant about rating systems. How is a 7 BAD?) I saw was from 1UP. Right. The rest are 9's. It could very well suck, but from what my friend is telling me, whom is a dirty pirate and has been playing it for the past 3 days, said the repetition is annoying, but the overall experience is pretty awesome. To each their own I guess, but so far the reviews are overall good.

How does the 'spoiler' affect the game?

Is the game just you experiencing memories?

I'm guessing from that video there is something shady about the character you play --> do you get to do any kind of assassin stuff as the protagonist?

IGN also gave it a 7 something. I know they suck but just sayin... awesome, for real  No shit though IGN went as far as to say it is 1 of the 5 biggest disappointments in game history...Sheesh...They are really dramatic.

7 is bad because no-one understands ratings scales.

If the scale was evenly balanced, things around the 5 mark would indicate an 'average' game. 7 would be a good game. 9 or 10 would be a classic, brillaint game. But what's happened is that game reviewers have taken 5 and below to mean 'god awful', 7 to be 'not bad' and 9 or 10 to be 'very good'. Fans of certain series go nuts when their game of choice 'only' gets an 8, which should mean it's a good game and worth having. Or rate critic-proof games (like Halo 3) a '10' because they now that their review won't matter and that people will buy it anyway.

The acceptable point for a game to score has moved from 6+ to 8+. Games that get a 7 are seen to be somehow deficient because all the other scores have been creeping up because reviewers also try to keep some kind of internal consistency, going, "Well, I gave RTA-Ahoy a 7, but this FPS-O-Rama is better than that game, so it can get an 8". On a personal note, I liked GamesTM magazine (dead again, I think) because it took the philosophy of 5 being a worthy score for an average game and 7 was for a good-if-flawed game. 10 was saved for the best games (I think Burnout 3 got a 10 for the overall experience and that was their only 10).

In all reality, a numerical rating system is useless for games. Hell, it's useless for pretty much any longitudinal evaluation where the ground keeps shifting (i.e. games, where would can't really compare a C64 game that got 8 out of 10 with an Xbox360 game with the same score). The only ratings system that should matter is:

Not worth playing
Worth playing, but not worth buying
Worth playing and buying
(and for a very small group) Essential to play

The above isn't a balanced scale, but it's a hell of a lot more intuitive than working out what a score of 7.8 from Gamespot actually means.

Eh, it's intuitive, it's like being in school:

9 - 10 = A
8 - 9   = B
7 - 8   = C
5 - 7   = D
4 - 5   = F
2 = Fuck you, have your parents come over so I can yell at them about what you did to piss me off.

Just to let you know, this spoiler is in the game's manual. The entire manual is written with it in mind actually.

I thought rating's tended towards the high end for advertising reasons. It's better for reviewers to indicate a scale of 1-10 but only use 6-10 because even then shittest games then look kinda ok to people who just follow the numbers.

It's pretty, the cities are really impressive, it has a neat game mechanic (the building hopping), but otherwise, it's pretty limited.

The missions aren't very scripted and don't contain many narrative elements (interactive or otherwise). The game is kind of sandbox-y though, so there is an emergence factor that kind of makes up for it. Some unpredictable elements may pop off while or after you kill a target.

The other goals are cool at first, but play out the same over and over again. They basically come down to 1) scouting a city by hopping on various "high" spots 2) investigation through eavesdropping and/or cornering an associate of the mission target and beating info out of him 3) pick pocketing said associates and 4) protecting city civilians from corrupt law officials.

There's also little flags to collect in each city, much like other little achievements in GTA style games.

Combat is extremely easy. For me at least. Stealth killing is easy, and even if I get caught, I can take out waves of guards with one eye closed.

[EDIT] I'm going to give it a "60" -- not a highschool 60, but a real one. There should be at least twice as many things to do here, and more guided narrative/storyline. The closest game I could compare it to though is Gun. If you liked that, then you'll like this.

Also, just on a sidenote, someone should make a Batman or Daredevil game like this (with more shit to do, of course).

Goddamnit....

Throughout my playtime of Assassin's Creed, I've gotten the bullshit 'Disk is unreadable' bullshit message about 8-10 times.  The goddamn disk is CLEAN.  No other game does this but this one.  So, I make it to the end bosses.  Kill the second to last end boss after dealing with the goddamned 10 or 12 fucking templar on steriods.

BAM.

"Disk is unreadable.  Please remove it and clean it, then restart your console" or something like that.

Goddamnit.  Goddamnit.  Goddamnit.

Restart.

Back to the start of the fucking mission.

Motherfuckers DIE IN A GODDAMNED FIRE.

Fuck this game.
