It's a tusk, not a horn.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

It's a pretty standard, and sad, state of affairs that the people who could sell you what you want, won't.

What part?  I have in fact rented DVDs that have unskippable ads, trailers, the whole shebang, just as described in that image.  Thankfully it's not very common, but it happens.

yeah a lot of them have it. What annoys me is that I watch a series from HBO and it shows me the same commercial for EVERY DISC in the series. I mean, really, do I need to see the same montage 14 times? And no, you can't skip it. (However, you can often hit STOP and then MENU to get around most of that stuff).

That's illegal too, so if you have to rip everything before you watch it you might as well just torrent it and save twenty bucks.

The point where they imply all legal DVDs have this front-end crap (a lot, perhaps even most don't; certainly most of the ones I own don't). It also overlooks the chance that whatever you download has a fair chance of being either shit quality or not working at all.

Wierd, I've been going through The Wire recently and my copies have nothing on them, no adverts, no security warning. It's just in > HBO logo > Show.

I find your use of the phrase "bloated with hyperbole" to describe an imaginary position that is in fact only "implied" somewhat hyperbolic.   why so serious?

This is as false as the assertion that games that are downloaded are riddled with viruses.

ESPECIALLY if you're getting it from a semi-private tracker.

And that picture is completely accurate; if you put in the matrix on blu-ray, that is exactly what you get.

I'm ok with torrenting movies because I buy the movie's t-shirts and go to the movie's concerts.

The implication is a little more real than imagined I feel, it's just unabashedly biased.

I just tested this with my own copy of the matrix DVD. I insert it, it goes straight to the movie. I'm sorry, you're wrong if you think that image isn't grossly exaggerating a point to try and justify a self-righteous position.

He said bluray not DVD.

It's getting more common every year that retail discs have unskippable crap on them. Sure, not every disc does but when I buy one that has it I start to froth at the mouth. Being made angry by things I have PAID FOR makes me less inclined to buy things in the future.

This is the same argument as the one going on in the Assassins Creed 2 thread. If you punish your customers who have actually gone out and paid for your product then you're retarded and deserve to go out of business.

The original image said DVD *shrug*

I agree that the unskippable splash screens are fucking retarded and annoying; my point is that they are far from ubiquitous and that pirated movies are far from perfect in all cases. I also get irritated by how terrible the "vote with your wallet" logic is.

You can always hit "Home", but the skip button is disabled for the ones that say 'unskippable'. Home dumps to you the menu. Stick it in, try it yourself. Yes, you can always fast forward or mash home, but you lose that whole 'put it in and watch'. You end up having to hit a bunch of shit on the remote just to play the damn movie.

Also, the menus invariably have spoilers in them, which pisses me off to no end and is another reason I wish I could skip them.

For Content: GIS "funny" and you get some good results:
