I couldn't find one single must-have game that wasn't already on the XBOX 360. Let me clarify a bit:
I can only buy one game with the system, so...here goes:
Virtua Fighter: Could be cool but I don't want to own a system with only a fighting game on it. Genji: Looked interesting but I want to read a review before I consider it. Ninja Gaiden: No thank you. If I want a game to crush my nuts I'll play raid level in an MMO. Gundam somethingorother: Just looked bad. Resistance: Maybe, if I can find it. Warhawk: Only multiplayer? Hmmm...not as my only game.

Ninja Gaiden is NOT nut-crushingly difficult. That is a lie perpetrated by people who suck at video games.

Is now the time to buy a PS3? I thought they were discounting them to make way for newer models.

The new librarian just got a PS3. I like her. The reason? Resident Evil. I guess they also bought some bundle of the older ones and she wants the new one. The means? They decided to get it for each other as a wedding present. That's a marriage that'll be happy.
I wonder if I can talk my fiancee into getting a 360 for our wedding present...

They've been talking about it, but I don't know if it'll be cheaper than the $500 60gig version or not. And I think the 60gig version still has the hardware PS2 emulation in it. Ninja Gaiden is NOT nut-crushingly difficult. That is a lie perpetrated by people who suck at video games.
Thank you. We know you're amazing. Do you have anything constructive to add besides chest thumping?

Yes. It's a fucking awesome game, even remade, and should be in anyone's game collection. It's no more difficult than another game I recently played, heavenly sword. And it's about 5x as long. Don't be scared away by the difficulty hype.
That was my point.

Raid level in an mmo? There's no comparison. It's challenging yes, but in a fun way. Not in some soul crushing, grindy way. Besides, it's the best 3rd person action title outside of God of War and DMC. You should get it --- even if that means getting an older copy on your Xbox. And what hell are you even considering Genji over that for? That's crazy.

Genji looked cool and the word "rpg-like" caught my eye. Thankfully I read a review and it is apparently terrible. So it appears:
Ninja Gaiden may be worthwhile. Folklore if I wait another week or so. Resistance, if I can find it. It seems to be sold out around here.

Resistance is fun. Both that and Ninja Gaiden last a decent amount of time. Do you have anything against used copies? Because you might be able to get both for little over the price of one new game that way.

No, not at all. That's an idea. I was thinknig about getting the game(s) at Best Buy and putting it on my reward zone card. I could check Eb Games I guess. I'm sort of surprised Resistance hasn't come down in price yet. I'm starting to lean towards it because it appears to have co-op so I could play it with my girlfriend. (she loves gaming, even shooters.)

Well, a bundle with 360 + Forza 2 + Marvel Ult. Alliance is forthcoming at current prices, so you may want to hold off until that drops. Back to the OP, I keep running into the same problem as Riggs re: the PS3. I want to buy a PS3 - hell, I want to buy 2 because my brother wants one too (and he's a giant Sony fanboy so he's not keen on the 360), but there's absolutely nothing that's not also coming out for the 360 for the foreseeable future that I'm interested in (except for LittleBigPlanet, but that's not worth $560). Of course, on top of that, I'll be dropping enough cash this holiday season just on 'must-have' games for the 360.

I bought a PS3 because of Warhawk. I returned Warhawk due to aforementioned launch day problems. Now my PS3 has been running Folding@Home since that time.
I think Folklore was the next major hit, but an embarrassing amount (for Sony) of games that are coming out on the PS3 are also coming out on 360, and I'd rather get my Live-stable games.

Maybe. I always had fun with those games but the shallowness and sillyness of the experience was a bit of a turnoff. I didn't really give a fuck about Ratchet or Clank or seeing the story progress, and I usually need a little bit of that to have a good time, otherwise I might as well play a casual game.
I realize that probably describes every Mario game ever made.

I'm surprised to hear that. I didn't have much problem with the difficulty. And last I checked, you completely tear me up at shooters.

I dunno, I'm playing it on normal and it's like nearly everything that even touches you takes off a full tick of life. Then again, I'm a full-on run and gunner, and Resistance requires more use of cover. I haven't really figured out how to break the system with pure aggression yet like I did with FEAR.

Just get a feel for all the weapons. Especially when you first get them. Insomniac is big on making weapons a primary factor of the gameplay (either with this game or the R&C stuff). I think there's only one ( the Hailstorm) that totally caters to all out aggression (you'll fucking love it when you get it... though it's short on ammo). Also.... Grenades. I don't think I've bunkered up and used grenades in another shooter as much as I did here.

Huh. Weird. Ookii and I whooped Resistance's ass. I remember a couple hard areas, but nothing HARD.
Ninja Gaiden is awesome. So is Heavenly Sword.
I enjoyed Genji. But then, I adored the first one.

I wouldn't bother picking up Resistance if I were you, you have to wait until the end of the game for it to become actually fun.

Halo is to videogaming what the Red Sox & Yankees are to sports in my state. Everyone loves them for irrational reasons that don't make any sense and I continue to not give a fuck and hate them out of sheer irritation because they just aren't that fucking special. Fuck Halo 3. Dead Rising is the 360's killer app dammit. Well, for anyone with a soul anyhow.

So is Heavenly Sword
What's up with the lack of discussion there anyways? I don't see a thread. I don't have the game myself or anything, but the demo is hot.

I've been woefully disappointed with nearly every PS3 game I've played so far, except for Resistance and to a lesser extent Genji. Heavenly Sword made some gameplay choices that I just didn't enjoy. My favorite games are still coming out on the PS2, of all systems.

I felt the same way about the PS1 and PS2 when I first got them though. There were a few entertaining games on PS2, but I ended up selling it pretty early... Then a whole bunch of games came out a year later and I got another. Then I got bored again and sold that one. Got a 3rd one later, and that broke. So I got a PS3.

Uh, is this the same ninja gaiden game that was released for the xbox? Cause we were bored the other day and rented a copy of it, since I heard awesome things about it. The game, combat, and the controls are in fact amazingly aweome, with the one problem of the game being MIND FUCKINGLY MORE DIFFICULT THAN ANY GAME IVE PLAYED SINCE THE 80'S. The amount of time it took me and other friends attempting it to beat the first fucking boss sapped our will to play the game pretty early on. And I assure you, I am good at playing video games. So yes, the game is WAY harder than just about anything you can possibly buy within the last two generations of game consoles. But don't let that stop you, the game mechanics itself are quite amazing and extremely well done. But rumors of it being hard are not lies or exagerations .
