Through the wounders of 0.0 space and the profit margins on selling Battleships in a warzone, I now have my very own personal POS.

I am woundering though, what do you do with the moon minerals? Sell them locally? Find some locally and set up a contract? Carrier it to empire and slow haul to Jita?

I'm hoping to find someone locally who needs the mineral (it's a rareish one), but how expensive or cheaper should I sell it compared to jita? There's pretty much no local market so I have no idea what to set it to.

Set the prices high, see if it sells.  You're not giving much information (what mineral is it?) so I think we can only offer vague advice.

We (i.e. Baldrake, Ekefo and me) are running one, but mostly to have mobile labs. We do not mine moon minerals. I do know however, that only some of them are really profitable to mine. It might be easier if you are able to form a reaction chain that ends in something that is actually used in popular T2 BPs in your region, but I think a complete chain requires several large POSes and quite a few different types of moon minerals. After invention was introduces, many more people need the reactions (including me), so the market might exists locally if you have many inventor types there.

When she crossed over, she was just a ship. But when she came back... she was bullshit!

Most of the profit in moon minerals is in integrating a production chain all the way through T2 components, then either selling those or making T2.  There's only a few of the rarest that are profitable to mine strictly for sale (Dysprosium, Promethium, Technetium, a couple of others).  Which requires scale, several hundred moon mines and several dozen reaction POS.

Most low-sec and high-sec POS are either high-end reaction chains, or production facilities (labs, assembly arrays, etc.).  It's popular to anchor a POS in a station system and produce from T2 BPO's (because POS assembly arrays have a production time bonus, and can build from BPO's locked down in the station).  0.0 is where you see the complicated integrated chains.

When I ran a POS we had a contract with another corp in our alliance, but before that we sold in Jita

That said out POS was in EC-P8R which was only 1 jump (albeit a usually fatal one) from empire
