I wanted to start a new thread outside of the Console Lineup thread as I've made something that illustrates the next 8 weeks. In October, I'll probably do another, though the rush isn't as heavy except for a week in November. Welcome to hell, dudes.

Image too big for just pasting.

Also, I'm obviously not buying the sports games or some of the other titles (Bleach Wii, pshaw). But! These are "notable releases." So yea, it's time to write some emo poetry about your wallet.

Discuss.

See: "Why I Have No Money"

Yeah. Schild is a little more into the jrpgs then I am, but I'm still dropping a metric fuckton of money.

I'm a massive tightass when it comes to new release software prices, I don't buy for handhelds or have a PS3/360, (or buy anything but the very top tier of PS2) and there's still 3 things I'd like to get off that list, 2 more-or-less right away.

And I never buy stuff right away anymore..

You're buying a Naruto game, but not Metroid?

Granted, I'm not buying Either of them.

If Metroid were a side scrolling metroidvania, yea, I'd buy Metroid. But it's not. It's a half-assed FPS with lock-on controls. I've skipped the last two and I'll skip this one.

Also, it's a Nintendo made console game. Written out.

I'm just completely screwed.

I see at least 9 games I'll be purchasing. 7 of them on the 360.  This is counting out all fighting games and a few nice titles for the PSP.  Perhaps I should just ask for a big stack of cash for my birthday.

FUCK, Beautiful Katamari on 10/15 according to Ebgames.  There's #10.

Oh man I didn't know Growlanser V is coming.  Here's hoping the localization job doesn't suck all the soul out of it.  I loved II and III but I worry a lot of that was due to good work by Working Designs.

Atlus' translations are vastly superior to Working Designs in every single way.

I hope so.  I only really feel skeptical because for some reason JRPGs always eventualy wear me down but the ones Working Designs did were so much more refreshing to me.  This could simply be due to Working Designs picking better games to translate of course.

Hmm, the only games I know I am getting from that lineup is Persona 3 and HL2: Orange Box...and I'm still wavering a bit on that.

I guess I am lucky, sort of.

BTW, what's up with that Joan of Arc game? First time I've heard of it.

You used the PC Bioshock box instead of the X360 Bioshock box.

WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH SCHILD?

But yeah, there's a bunch of shit on there I want. If I had a better PC, I'd be all over Bioshock and World in Conflict. As is, I'm still picking up 3 things off that list.

August through December is gonna be spendy. I want at least 4 of the games in the OP pic, plus a few more coming 'holiday season', notably Rock Band. I might need to sell a kidney to afford it all. Anyone have an extra?

I will know tonight which version of Bioshock I want.  Getting the 360 version anyway since my wife wants to see it.

This is definitely going to suck.  My "no buying games until October" plan seemed so great.  The thing is that my wife has some purchase plans, especially now that she's burned-out on Oblivion and has finished the fun parts of Overlord.

The near-term purchase list, as of last night's discussion:

Blue Dragon
Persona 3
Suikoden V
Disgaea 2
Eternal Sonata
Bioshock
MySims [Wii]
Metroid (shaddap rabbit)
Super Metroid (shaddap shaddin-up)
Metroid Prime 3
Lost Odyssey
Half Life 2: Ep. 2, etc.
Folk Soul
The Sims 2: Bon Voyage
Cosmic Family
...
Ratchet & Clank Future
Mario Galaxy

It seems like I am forgetting something, which is fine because that's over $500 in softwares.

I *MIGHT* wait for Blue Dragon to get a price drop. Not kidding. First time ever on a major RPG for me since 2 generations ago. I simply don't have the time to put into it with Bioshock around. But Nah, I'll probably get it anyway.

Blue Dragon is one of those games that my wife watches me play and we can both get into, the sort of game we have played together since FFVIII, I think.  Even better that it's got an Uematsu score, and it's looking to be a bit nostalgic while simultaneously being current-generation.  I think this is why Suikoden V is on the list, and why White Knight is on the Spring 08 list.

Buy it before Blue Dragon. Trust me. The story is fucking great. Great. Great.

I think I will, but you underestimate her hatred of square-based combat games.  She likes Makai, but only the "demos" so I save strategically.  This nets her about twenty minutes of story for, uh, six or so hours of me dicking around.  I already tried with the first Disgaea... maybe I will try again since she's in-between games right now.

I'm hoping she will love Persona 3.  Probably will since she loved SMT: Digital Devil Saga.  I should ty to finish that one.

Yes, we know you're rich.  Thnx info.

Some of us can purchase all of it with ease.  Although with your cushion, I'm sure I could more deftly avoid the scorn of the non-gamer wife (not even a Wii interests her) and absorb the Tiffany's, Coach, and BCBG purchasing counter offensive.

Doesn't bother me.  What other people do doesn't bother me unless it somehow affects me directly.

I could buy all those with no problem, and I probably will plus other things that sneak up on me, but I'm trying to be Responsible.  The reason I decided not to buy any games until October, and this was back in May I guess, was because I paid $300 for a pair of sunglasses.  They are pretty damn nice, but I wanted to do my part to not waste all of our money that might otherwise buy toys for the boy.  It's also hard to get mad at other people for spending money on "silly things" when I'm buying video games.  Also, I have spent well over $2000 on gaming hardware since last November... I guess that comes out to about £312.34 or so.  I'm just feeling bad about it; I won't be sleeping in a cardboard box anytime soon.  Still, it makes my ass pucker to spend lots of money.

I didn't feel so bad that I included XBLA games in the ban, nor the GalCivII expansion.  I had a $5 coupon for it, too.

Eh... I could buy them, but like Yego, I'm trying to remain remotely responsible.

I'll only really buy a handful of them, even though I have interest in playing most of them.

Whoa, that must have come out well wrong, since that wasn't the thrust of my point, to be honest.  Of the list that Yeg put up, there's exactly ONE game on there that interests me.

I don't know whether that means I'm getting older and losing my game cred, or if Wow has affected and damaged the Game centers of the brain, whether my life is changing or whether BIOSHOCK OWNS ALL.

"I am much richer than you's" wasn't the thrust.

Wow has affected and damaged the Game centers of the brain.

Winner.  I tend to forget there's a beautiful world of gaming out there when I'm playing WoW.  The amount of time, even if WoW requires less than most, to get to the good stuff leaves little time for much else when you've got a life and job.

Now that I've been playing on my consoles (and bought the 360), I just can't even stomach DIKU style gameplay.  I've yet to be able to play EQ2 for more than 30 minutes before I'm completely bored. Makes me wonder if I'll ever enjoy another MMO again, which is starting to sound better all of the time.  Heck, I even downloaded Titan Quest + Immortal Throne and have been enjoying that. I wouldn't even look sideways at a Diablo clone during a WoW bender (CLICK CLICK CLICK still hurts my arm though, goddamn).  Getting off the WoW opens yourself up to a much richer gaming experience.

And, sorry if I misconstrued your statement.

On a completely unrelated aside, Gatorade "Rain" is fucking disgusting.  I'm not quite sure what they're trying to do with this beverage.

I told myself it was just lack of time for a while.  Then I would log on to WoW when Elena fell asleep and instance till bed.

Time to pick up a 360 and a copy of DR, I think.  I'll go from there.

Truthfully, I'd skip Dead Rising if I were you.  Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but it's effectively destroyed by Japanese masochistic bullshit.  The time limit save system just kills any real enjoyment I got from the game, to the point where I just don't have the will to really dig deep into it.  Of course, I'm the type of player who does not enjoy a challenge.  I'm impatient, and don't enjoy frustration.  All my games are set to easy, I play for love of the game, not to pull my fucking hair out.

If I had to recommend some must own games for the 360 I'd say Gears of War, Forza 2, Fight Night Round 3, and possibly Guitar Hero 2 (although waiting for Rock Band is also an option).  And then of course we've got the bounty of Bioshock, Mass Effect, etc on the horizon.
