Who the hell irons white t-shirts anyway? It makes them easier to fold, damnit!Truth of the matter is, I'm fairly sure I'm OCD about ironing.

I'm guessing the second shot was taken with a strobe, but the vis looks awesome for the first one?

I haven't bothered ironing in years. I have a steamer, but I only use it in dire circumstances. When I see someone with absolutely no wrinkles at all in their clothes, I just assume polyester. I find it much easier just to consider a little bit of wrinkling to be good taste! My dryer gets rid of most of the wrinkles if I time taking them out properly. If I don't, I just spray them with a bit of water and throw them back in. Washing machines and dryers are much more fun than irons!

Yeah, he had a dual strobe/lighting contraption hooked up to the camera, with crazy looking waterproof joints for the wiring. Vis was pretty good at that spot, though in general I thought vis wasn't that great. I think Roatan has spoiled me, as vis was crazy good there.

I was very happy with it. Rare that I get the bird in focus in a shot like that, instead of the mountains behind it.
He was fishing in a tidal pool and let me get within 30 feet or so before he took off.

I should get back to nature, too. You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer. Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached. Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

I think the opposite. If you had managed to get the bird's shadow completely in the picture, it may have been worth some cash. Quite an outstanding shot.

I agree, just a touch wider to get the full reflection would have been ideal. Great shot.

Interesting moire patterns on the water surrounding the second drop, Apocrypha. Are those real, for instance constructive and destructive interference between water waves somehow, perhaps due to low frequency sound sources nearby? An artifact of the camera? The processing?

In the black & whitish one they're reflections from the white board, which I'd covered with a sheet of plastic netting behind the tray of water. In the reddish one they're reflections from a sheet of crumpled-foil covered cardboard around the right & back of the tray.
With the netting reflections the patterns changed quite a lot with image reduction and sharpening, which was kinda cool :)

I figured those patterns were probably dependant on the resizing. Some really interesting images though, nicely done.

Cheers. Checking out the tagged images in the strobist pool though makes mine look a bit humdrum in comparison with many of them :p

The diving shots were awesome, though it made me feel bad for getting excited at 10m vis last weekend. No shots of the actual dive but here are some people getting ready to go in. (This was the sunday, the weather on saturday was too horrible to want to be outside. And we were camping )

As a secondary profession, yea. Love doing it, and can use the money. I'm booked to do this couple's engagement party - and if all goes well, hopefully their wedding. (Indian weddings are three days long)

Scouting for some locations for portraits and testing to see how far I can walk carrying a medium camera bag & gear now. I love this tree: Edit: Did a stitch job too. Okay I am thinking of trying my hand at some 360 photography. Anyone know of a decent yet inexpensive nikon lens (using a d70s) that I can use to cut this down to 3 shots or so? I have photoshop cs4 (just don't use it much) is there a stitching type of tool in there somewhere? How about free/open source stitching software? Is a flash player the easiest way to post these images on the web? Are there free/open source flash players available that can embed the resulting image nicely on a web page? I tried my google-fu and it sent me back to 2006.

Nothing wrong with links from 2006, not a vast amount has changed since then. Lenses are limited. There's the Nikon 10.5mm (about £500), Tamron 14mm (hard to find, £700+), Sigma 8mm (£600, could have sworn it used to be cheaper than that) and then you're into weird things like the Peleng 8mm full fisheye (£300-400 if you can find a decent 2nd hand one). You can always just use the widest setting on a superzoom. What kit lens do you have with your D70s? You're not going to get good results with only 3 shots though, even with a full fisheye. I use 6+ shots with the Nikon 10.5mm and still get some parallax problems if I haven't done my rotations precisely round the focal point of the lens. The stitching built into CS4 is rubbish. Hugin is very good, and free, and I notice they've updated since I last installed it, so I'll have to try that and see if it works on Vista64. I know nothing about making the full 360 quicktime things, but have a look on this page or the Nodal Ninja forums. And if you ever decide to upgrade from your D70s give me a shout, I'm after a cheap one for some odd flash applications. The D70s has a fully electronic shutter you see, so you can achieve very high flash sync speeds with some tomfoolery edit: forgot to mention, the Peleng 8mm, while it might be the cheapest ultra-wide, is difficult to work with because the rear element protrudes into the body of the camera and obstructs the reflex mirror. Don't know if it's even compatible with the D70s but even if it is it makes metering and focusing tricky, to say the least
