At the end of the day, besides corporate bean counters, who really CARES about subscription numbers?

I do. I love Burger King, and because of that, I want to see that their numbers are good so that they might come to my country and perhaps even to my town.

This just in: The Roman Empire has Fallen!

Dear Vik

Can't you get a girlfriend and invite her over for spaghetti or pizza or something? At least your attention would be turned to something moderately useful like procreation or self satisfaction.

All games will come. All games will go. As will we. Dust in the wind and whatnot.

Personally, I enjoy hiding the salami far more then hiding the numbers. We can generally tell when a game is not profitable because the studio closes. Given the veracity of the presumptions presented here, I think it is probably best to wait for the press release.

Don't you? Ok. Well I have my dreams too...

Burger King isn't all that common outside of the USA Calantus.

In my city for example there are three McDonalds and the one Burger King went broke once and is close to it again. Fast Food equals McDonalds around here. There are 162 McDonalds and 24 Burger King in Austria. 145 McDonalds and 17 Burger Kings in Switzerland, 1035 Mc Donalds and ONE Burger King in France, etc.

Worldwide, McDonalds outmatches them three to one. Which is a pity, because I like that actual burgers better at Burger King.

Where are you getting the numbers? Just curious. Hungry Jacks is an Australian franchise of Burger King or something and their burgers are the same so we have more "Burger King" than just those labeled as such. Don't ask me why we have both Burger King and Hungry Jacks. o_O

In Finland. It's weird. I could take a few hours' cruise to Stockholm, Sweden or Tallinn, Estonia, both also EU nations, both with Burger Kings. So why is my country being neglected?

I remember being in London in 1991 and Oxford Street had more BK than Mac. That's when I fell in love with the whopper.

Sadly, in Italy we have about 500 MacDonalds and about 2 (two) Burger King in the whole country. Roma itself got its first BK only 5 years ago, and a second one just opened last month, while we have about 20 MacDonalds since the late 80s.

I got the numbers from Wikipedia and doublechecked the Austrian numbers with the Austrian Burger King and McDonalds websites to validate the veracity of the numbers (always a good idea with Wikipedia).

Yes, I am bored at work. Don't tell my boss!  :-D

Edit: Worldwide numbers (from the official websites)

Mc Donalds:  30000 in 119 countries
Burger King:  over 11100 in 65 countries

I'm generally pretty meh about the whole McDonalds political-angst thing.  I tend to detest the anti-capitalist, G8-rioting types, so I'd happily eat at McDonalds just to spite that sort, if Mickey-D made anything approaching a real burger.

A McDonalds in Birmingham is fine, because the entire city is a shithole.  But I hate finding McDonalds in Italy, because they are far more likely to be garishly fucking-up beautiful sites.  You'll be happily wandering through a Ravenna, gazing through a rennaisance piazza towards the 5th-century mausoleum housing the remains of emperors, sitting beside the awe-inspiring Basilica of San Vitale, second only to the Hagia Sophia itself in buildings I've seen.  And hey, look!  The golden fucking arches!  I'd have laughed in delight to see the place torched.

Plus, I prefer Burger King.  And KFC actually gives you real, unprocessed, non-reconstituted meat.

PS Burger chains are more interesting than the OP.

Needless to say, Burger Kings Taxi to Victory is over now. They will never outsell McDonalds and are therefore a failure.

McDonald's damages to Roma were the first reasons why I hated it when they opened in Piazza di Spagna ages ago. Plus, it sucks compared to BK.

You remembered me that I fell in love with KFC too when I was in London, and guess what... there's no KFC in Italy. At all (that I know of). How's KFC TAXI (don't forget the caps) to victory going, based on that?

Everytime I go into a KFC it seems to be empty but I hear people are still eating there so it must still be going.  If it's open then it must still be making a profit.

Haven't heard if SOE are going to buy it yet though.

Good point.  once they've bought all those ingredients up front the cost of making the food drops dramatically, so it's worthwhile just running it with as few servers as it takes to keep the customers happy.

Servers.  See what i did there?

Burger King has had a bunch of different owners over the last 10 years. That has probably been a factor in its expansion pattern.

Burger King would actually look better than most MMO fast food chains than it really performs with the NA/EU centric numbers figures of the chartards.

The pulled out of Japan entirely in the 1990s and are just now attempting a return to that market.

All I have to say is that BK > McD's.  Although I hate their fries.  Ever since they changed to their current fries back in the late 90s, I have hated their fries. But hey, cheesy tots aren't half bad.  Also, onion rings.

They're franchise operations. Some people buy franchises but suck at running them. So when you see the whole "returning" thing in a country that they "pulled out" from, it probably just means that somebody else from that country is giving a franchise a shot. It may say Burger King like the last one, but its basically just like a different UO shard.

Quite right.  And look, Falconeer: franchising opportunities for Italy are available here.  It's not right that Malta has one but not Italy...

BTW can someone den the MMO sub-numbers stuff at the beginning of this thread and let us discuss burger sub numbers in peace?

If you have a McDonald's and Burger King near each other, you can get McDonald's fries and a Whopper at almost the same time, then go make sweet, sweet love to them behind the K-Mart.  I mean, eat them.  Slowly.

I don't understand why burger king can't get fries right, it pisses me off.  They should just do what New York Fries does, get some potatoes, wash them, run them through a slicer, boil them in quality oil, done.  They would crush McDonald's because the Whopper is a vastly superior burger to both the Big Mac and the Quarter Pounder.

Does Wendy's sell anything edible?
Like Haemish said they make good chili.  I also like their chicken nuggets more than McDonald's.  The spicy chicken sandwich is also nice.

I almost missed this newly important discussion because the thread name has some misleading LOTRO nonsense in it.

I rather like the Wendy's fries.  They're light years better than the McDs or the BK fries.

Their chili, not so much. Other people love it, but I guess I just prefer my own recipe to their stuff. I do like that they make it fresh every day, and I'll eat it from time to time, but I prefer my own.

Wendy's also has a pretty decent selection for people who don't eat meat -- which is a serious consideration for me seeing as how my wife is a vegetaryan and all.

Jack in the Crack done right is awesome.  Although I'm convinced the super ghetto SF location is a rarity.  Also Wendy's and Carl's Jr are > BK/McD on every level are you kidding me?

Although my Wendy's experience is all at Ohio locations, there are none in the Bay Area.

The only good thing about McD is a $1 chicken sandwhich is gr8 if you force them to halve the mayo and add a slice of cheese.  Otherwise they are total crap.

Also Sonics.  Which sadly is fucking unpossible to get to.  Whenever we are in Vegas or Skino we make sure to stop at the Sonics.  Love that place.

Why all the Wendy's hate? They sure as fuck make better burgers than Mickey D's. Their fries are great as well, but it took me a couple times and they just got better and better. I might be biased because at the University Hospital I work at, it was the only fast food nearby...

In-N-Out burger...the one time I tried them when I was in Cali...some good stuff right there.
