Oh god, fileplanet download service is just awful. I would rather dl it from some shady chinese host going 0.2 kb/s than this shit.
First one to mirror the file will become god among men, even if going to be rapidshare.

Nope it's not just you -- I can't patch either.

I was able to patch it manually I grabbed the patch from the FTP server you can grab from the connection console. Look for the one with your version number to 13338, your version number will be on the zip file that was downloaded. You're going to have to command line the exe file with a whole bunch of bullshit arguments, something like:

"patch.exe /l patches.txt /s ftp.server /f 13338 (final version number) /p <directory patch.zip was extracted to> 12939 (current version number of your install) <directory fury is installed to>

Have fun...

Edit: I also had some troubles with the original install directory and the command line arguments, I had to reinstall to C:\Fury to make it simple.

Edit again: I installed everything to C:\Fury extracted the patch zip file to the same directory, and the exact command I ran was:

"FuryPatchGUI13338.exe /l ftp://69.80.215.162/patches.txt /s ftp://69.80.215.162/ /f 13338 /p C:\Fury 12939 C:\Fury"

This was able to patch the game after a few minutes.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Edit: FTP patch server has changed to 69.80.215.250, at least for the moment, but otherwise your instructions worked great. Thanks for figuring that out.

Now if I could only figure what the point of this game is...

The biggest problems (performance wise) seem to be the long-ass loading times after and before matches begin, and the huge amount of time the queues seem to take.

Of course this is beta, so neither really supprised me.

Fake Edit: Can we please get some damn yes or no dialog boxes? I was half way through the tutorial when I lagged into the exit tutorial portal and had to spend 20 minutes figuring out where everything was.

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Other than the initial registration over at Fileplanet, I haven't had any problems (once I got winrar, that is - thanks, Trippy).

Installed fine, updated fine, loaded in fine.

We had this same problem in Vanguard Beta. Brad was trying to save money and switched to fileplanet. We all bitched and he said "Give it a chance"

I think that arround half the testers couldn't download it... after about a month they got rid of file plannet.

I can at least give you tips that I learned in that nightmare. File plannet SUX ASS

#1. Use internet explorer. Their manager doesnt like anything else.
#2. Make sure the drive you are downloading it to is NTFS. It may sound silly... but a lot of people were trying to download Vanguards client to External USB drives that just happen to come pre-formatted when they bought them as Fat32. Fat32 has a 4Gig(?) file limit size and Vangaurds client was 20Gig. Fileplanets download manager would just crash.
#3. If i remember correctly, if the download failed for any reason, the download manager would think you had already downloaded the file and would not let you download it again. As a result you would have to uninstall it, clear your cache and temp files, empty your recycle bin, reboot and totally reinstall.

Why the hell these development companys haven't discovered Bittorrent yet baffles me.

I've had no problem with Fileplanet. I bit the bullet two years ago and have been paying the annual fee since. I probably could use it more, but there's not much I've found to be interesting.

I'd host the file but I'd blow through my free monthly alottment halfway through the third download :)

Same as SnakeCharmer: D/L fine, patch fine (once the server came back up today), launched fine. Got as far as character creation before my daughter woke up from her nap :)

Your alpha system requirements are too high for me. This is bad. Learn one of the lessons of Vanguard and WoW. If your system requirements are too high, you will exclude potential customers.

Retail specs are supposed to be as low as a 2.0 ghz single core cpu and a GF4 card.

It's in pre-Beta. I don't know why their so high. Maybe they're working backwards or whatever.

Otherwise, interesting experience.

I have an "in-between" video card (which aren't currently supported) so I can't enter the beta.  cry

Alphas are often like this. They typically don't bother optimizing performance yet.

That doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. Optimization is one thing, but I'm more than skeptical that even after optimization, it'll run like dog shit on my computer because it hasn't been tested on that configuration since alpha.

One major change that new players will notice in the update is that the hardware checker has been removed. This means people who previously didn’t quite meet the minimum specifications will be able to play. Please keep in mind, however, that you may experience bad frame rates and visuals in game if your specifications are beneath the minimums previously enforced.

Lastly, because you are under “Non-Disclosure”, you must refrain from discussing anything at all about the game with anyone outside of the testing program.

Its going to run from 3pm (PST) today to 9pm (PST) Sunday.
