Yeah.  Lucas Arts as a whole (including George) have really lost it.

Yeah, it's supposed to be CG / cartoon / whatever, but this just makes my heart really ache.

What's the problem? The cartoon already has that stylized look.

He's got it linked in his post.  It's linked to IGN, though.  A billion blizzard fans are wearing their F5 buttons down over there.

I haven't seen it.  That was the first glimpse of it.

It's a crappy style but I don't see that this is worth pissing one's pants in anguish over.

Yeah most of the folks who criticize clone wars didn't bother checking out the 2nd season.  That the first season was just "rehash, 2 mins of story, end" didn't help convince them to do otherwise.

It's a crappy style but I don't see that this is worth pissing one's pants in anguish over.

The Clone Wars cartoon was done in the Samurai Jack style, whoever that artist was.  They've tried to capture it in the CGI, and it doesn't work well.  The CW/ SJ style is very rooted in the 2d medium.

I thought he had the same look that Orville Reddenbacher has in the new CGI commercials, which I think are really creepy.

Kidding.  I really can't bring myself to care about this "filling in the blanks between movies" shit, and that poster looks like fried ass.

It can't be worse than the last three movies. The cartoon, ugly as many see it as (I liked the style though), was far and away better than the tripe that Lucas put together. KOTOR was a better movie than the last three. It just can't get worse. Until it shows up as a series on the CW. Then, it's worse.

There's an alternate universe out there where the Star Wars prequels didn't get better reviews than the originals while simultaneously finding a huge audience, and where throngs of people crowded in to see things like Serenity and Snakes on a Plane.  I'll betcha in that universe people still give a shit about movie opinions on the internet.

I didn't watch the original cartoon because I hated the art style. HATED it. If a cartoon is comedy, art style doesn't bother me. If it's action and based on characters played by human beings I can't take this hyperstylized shit. I won't be watching this CGI for the same reason. My first thought on hearing the CGI was "please make it look good".

Oh well.

By stating what I did, I wasn't asking how they screwed up- I meant, do we really care this much?  I certainly don't.  It looks ugly, oh well, wasn't gonna watch it anyways.  Aren't we done with Star Wars yet?

The style doesn't bug me *too* much, I liked Gendy's cartoons. The issue for me is... why? Why do this at all? And if you're going to do it... why not just contract Gendy to make more 2d cartoons in the same style, rather than try to do some 3d version of his shit. 'Tis beyond me. Lucas should just leave shit like this up to the novelists. It causes less nerd rage, and costs a hell of a lot less.

Ugh, and ugh, more of what John Kricfalusi calls Tude'.  The uber-serious kind of look on their faces saying - punch me I'm a jerk.

Star War$, I loved it back in the day. But like what Trek' became, it's a franchise long played out.

With the kind and caring contributions of bizzaro-Ironwood, and his Superman avatar, bizzaro-f13 is the happiest and most well-adjusted place in the world.  No, in that universe I go around the internet in a beret telling people what le stupid plebians they are for not liking the unpopular things that I do.  I imagine it's quite liberating.

Never saw the cartoon dicussed here.

There was a new link circulating about a (possible?) new CG animated series that isn't in this thread yet tho... http://www.talesofthenewrepublic.com/

Star Wars is 30yrs old today... and man do I feel old now.

Go ahead and continue with the usual f13 derailment already in progress.

Whoever it is wanted their WHOIS nerfed. Not necessarily a bonus for legitimacy, but whatever.

HOWEVER, it seems they're using Interland hosting, which almost screams to me illegitimate.

Some post the trailer yet? Slashdot had it, but I felt like doing a public service or something.

I liked the 2D style, but at this point in my SW career, if there's a plot that's any good, it could look like anything (including text) and I'd partake. I like the 3D style, though I'd have gone even more cell-shaded. 2D or 3D at least they only have to worry about the quality of the voice overs instead of the whole actor/ress physiology.

That looks way too good to be legit.
It looks awesome. I swear I saw Admiral Thrawn in there too (at 0:27). What with everything in that trailer, they're covering at least Episode 1 through a few years after Episode 6. If that's the case, bring it on, legit or not (which it doesn't appear to be based on this disclaimer at the top: "Disclaimer: This is not an offical Lucasfilm Production")

Of course Tales of the New Republic is fake. It's just some artist. They have no association (YET) with Lucasarts or Lucasfilm.

Also, it says it right at the top of the web page.

Edit: Served by Darniaq. I must be off my game.
