There's no need for that, they sell each box for like 20-30 a pop and have no reason to drop the price. This isn't some 500 man triple A dev team that needs funding, it's like what, 20 people working with purposefully simple models and graphics.
It's a formula that needs no fucking with to just generate stupid amounts of money for what they put into it.
This doesn't even account the merchandising, which is another money printing machine.

Yeah, it is to me a question of when, not if, Microsoft starts strangling its own cash cow. They are going to want to monetize all those unlicensed mods and texture packs somehow, aren't they?
Also, a hypothesis: If you have kids like mine, they have the PC version, a console version and a mobile version. While each of these count as a separate box sale, they play the PC version more or less exclusively (the console and mobile versions absolutley STINK in comparison). So the concurrent users for PC will be much, much higher as a percentage of box sales, even if console and mobile sales come close to the same level. I'd bet a fairly large wad of cash on it actually, all the way up to 10 dollars.

No shirts. A couple of figures. Foam rubber diamond pickaxe. Sword, too. Maybe I also have a battery powered Redtone block sitting on my nightstand. That sort of thing.
The big thing now is that my wife likes to pretend that our kids love legos (she loves them more but will not admit it), and what would be better than Minecraft Lego? The kids kind of role their eyes when they get them, because fuck Minecraft Legos when you could be playing Minecraft instead.

I actually like the XBone version of Minecraft, as I actually like the mostly unmodded version of the game. MS shit the bed though in releasing it without taking advantage of their cloud servers. Currently, the only way to have a persistent server is to have one person leave their console running it 24/7. If they come up with servers, I'll be all over Minecraft from the couch.

XCom had an iPad version too and was a great game, from the same company. And Beyond Earth didn't have an iPad version and faceplanted. Let's not get too worried yet. |

The writing and VA in that one sound rather... painful. The artwork seems nice, but is there actually anything more there than bejeweled clone attached to sexy pics? At a glance can't shake off a feeling it's trying to ride the controversy wave because it has little else to offer. |

There's a dedicated Neogaf thread discussing the fact that Steam has no dedicated customer service staff or backend developers so I'd guess it's mostly the latter (poor focus) although I guess that Valve makes more than enough money with Steam, Dota, CS:GO and Team Fortress that they don't reallyfeel the pressure to change anything either.
I also imagine working on CS or steam's backend isn't sexy enough that your co-workers won't notice, and thus you'll end up at the end of the stack ranking (cause no one cares what you are working on). So in fact Valve's own culture prevents people from trying to improve those things. Bingo. Stack ranking = Corporate Death. 'well, it kinds sounds like a good idea... As far as I cal tell, it's some kind of combination puzzle game / dating sim. H = Hentai, which is the Japanese label for "perverted" material ranging from "girls in their underwear" to the most gruesome shit you can imagine (but with more tentacles). Since this is on Steam I'm assuming the base version is fairly tame, but I'm not sure. A copy floated my way but I suspect it's one of those games I'll never play since all my family members who are on Steam will get "KAIL IS NOW PLAYING [CREEPY GAME]" notifications every time I boot it up. |
