I live in a ridiculously nice bohemian-styled apartment full of antique furniture in a 350-year old building right in the centre of the old town. If I look out of my window, the state theatre is right outside, the former Constitutional Court is directly opposite and the lovely gothic cathedral is just to the right, all within about 100m on the same street. It costs less than half of what I paid in Madrid for a shitty modern box in Chamberí too.

Not mine but a dive buddy's photo. Totnes castle, an old paddle steamer of Salcombe weekend before last. Makes me really want to figure out my own camera underwater, his is much better and this kind of shot needs a wide angle lens but just sorting out white balance would help me immeasurably.

Wow.

Where I live, the building I'm in is considered ancient because it was built in the 70s. My furniture is mostly from Ikea.

What is your camera? Can it shoot RAW? If so then you can play with white balance to your hearts content in post.

Love the shoreline picture. Great colours and a nicely composed path into the photo.

Both pics are great, but yeah, that shoreline one is just gorgeous.  The blues are perfect.

Half embarrassed to post these with all the awesome shots so far but I've decided to try working on underwater photography a bit more. I had actually forgotten (or half forgotten, half too lazy to do the processing stuff on them) that my camera does shoot in RAW. I was diving off Cork for the last week and managed to take a few shots.

First two are on the U-260, German sub down about 45m. It was an amazing wreck, ended up having to spend 40 minutes on my decompression stops but it was totally worth it! Pictures are of the conning tower (hatch open as it was scuttled by the crew) and a shot of the outer hull, which is peeling away. The inner hull it still very much intact.

Got a shot of this little guy on the next dive that day which was very shallow and bright (quite a contrast!). This one I've done almost nothing to

I'm finding it's actually probably most difficult handling focus underwater. The lack of lighting really plays with the auto-focus and in any kind of current of surge manual focus is difficult as you're being moved so much. Also limited by the housing, which means that the rear scroll wheel isn't usable and you're limited to altering one setting at a time with the front wheel or going through the UI on the camera. It's a fun challenge just seeing which setting works best, especially if (like me) you're used to being lazy and just taking shots with the auto settings.

Those are very cool. Quite aside from the coolness of underwater, they're just interesting shots period. Water almost seems like fog--a light diffuser that creates a really interesting gradient in a lot of shots.

So, at the end of our hike I took some pictures of my buddy's barn and truck.  I had that hitchhiking Olaf along with me and put it on his truck as a joke for a couple shots, thinking in the back of my mind that those would be the ones that really work.  Of course that happened, out of 90 shots this is my favorite.

Sweet barn though, with more than a touch of ruin-porn to it.  Will have to go back with enough time to do it right.

Couple of garden visitors today:

Either a Common or a Southern Hawker. Wingspan 12-15cm I reckon.

Painted Lady on the buddleia which was planted to bring butterflies & bees into the garden, very successfully too!

Christ, ain't that the truth. I was out there for half an hour and only got 3 acceptably in-focus pictures.

Nice! For a second I thought the scratch in the middle of the middle one was lightning.

I think it's hair on the window, not a scratch. He's got 'em in a few places on all the photos.

Awesome pics.

Crazy how well that picks up the dust and hairs on the window.

Here's my second attempt at sharing this. Enough of fighting Dropbox.

Cannon Beach, Oregon. Haystack Rock, some 290 odd feet high, at low tide.

The dust is probably on the negatives. Wide-open, a lens that close to the window probably won't pick up even fairly large scratches and marks on the glass. I dusted the negatives before putting them in the scanner, but it's possible there was some crap on the scanner glass.

Thanks. It was the only really unique shot I got of Haystack rock.  Something about the way it almost falls off the bottom of the frame, I really liked.
