Damn kids, get off my lawn!

on: May 01, 2007, 06:05:40 PM

By reading posts here I came away with some goals. I have not had television access for some 5 years. My media access is through Itunes. I got recommendations for dogfights (really great large replay value). but you conversion about heroes has caused me to start downloading that. Well words fail me, great writing with great visual effects. Please don't stop commenting on media you find entertining and thank you all for your thoughts.

I started with nothing, and I still have most of it

Kittens are so 5 minutes ago. It's all about puppies now.

Oh and I have also learned a about a lot of entertaining things here - the inherent cynicism, random chatter and rampant nihilism are entertaining but the folks here that generally know their shit keep me coming back. Well that and noone else would have me. Different thread.

RERAIL!

My random picks:

Doctor Katz. (Season 1 and 2 are available on DVD now)
The Shield.
Most John Carpenter movies, but especially The Thing and They Live.
Hellraiser 1 and 2.

You cannot go wrong listening to me, my taste is unimpeachable!

I rewatched some Venture Bros. this past weekend.  I need more.

Arrested Development is a good one.

Pretty old at this point, but my still one of my favorites: Six Feet Under.

I don't watch television either so I'm afraid I am short on recommendations. The BBC Planet Earth documentary series just came out on DVD last week in the US and it is phenomenal if you like nature documentaries. If not...

I have seen a couple episodes of Rome. It was interesting. I'm not sure why I never watched more.

The Sarah Silverman Program can be funny if you like her style. I don't, but I still get some laughs from the show.

I'm in a huge Cable Series on DVD kick right now.  Rome delivers; so did Deadwood (seasons 1 and 2).  Considering 6 Feet Under next.

not getting hits from these titles on itunes. I will try the local video store but I am wondering if other media servers might be worth a try.

I thoroughly enjoyed Rome. I lately watched Prison Break, which I found enjoyable and would recommend. I like Sarah Silverman's stuff usually, but the first episode of her new show fell totally flat to me and I haven't even considered giving it a second shot. I've also been watching Family Guy. Stewie doing the "this is my rifle, this is my gun" bit from Full Metal Jacket was golden.

The important thing to note is that my kitten is about to start playing WOW. :D

And I'm very ready for him to reach a more cat-like status.  But first he needs to start grinding his house-broken skills.  Peeing in the corner because it's cold and dark and you don't want to cross the house to use the litter box is UNSAT.

Something good that is on iTunes would be It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.  One of the few shows that make me laugh hard enough to hurt my sides.

I'd second the recommendation for "It's Always Sunny..." That show is wrong on all sorts of fronts, but it's like the Seinfeld cast got really drunk and let all their worst impulses drive them.

Don't let the Chinese hear about that.  Thousands of gold farmers will be laid off in favor of cheap kitten labor.
