It's 8pm GMT+1 here and there's no way to enter the game, login or even access the lotro-europe website/forum. Is it just me or they are trying to fuck up a very good launch?

Yep, Codemasters were continuing their merry dance of incompetence.  The server status page shows them all up now, and the support news says they were fixed by 11.50 last night.  I find it utterly predictable that Codemasters would have these serious, repeated outages while the US servers chug along nicely.  I hope their SLA with Turbine is such that they are getting pounded for penalties.

Are you guys playing together on a server? I don't have any friends palying and would like to chat with someone the 5 times I log in... Also can I get my US version to convert to EU servers? (that question has changed to can I even download the EU version from somewhere?)

edit: nevermind found it.

As a matter of fact I swallowed one of these about two hours ago and the explanation is that it is, in fact, my hand.

I'm gonna go with numbers and roll something on that RP server. Hopefully other people will stay away from me so I don't actually have to RP :)

Ok I made a Ministrel by the name of Ceolin, I added you both :)

More proof that socialism doesn't work.

All life begins with Nu and ends with Nu.  This is the truth!  This is my belief! At least for now...

This doesn't happen with the US servers, does it?  I mean, it really does take a special kind of incompetence to take the same codebase as the US servers and yet have something like ten percent downtime.  Codemastersm, unfortunately, are that special kind of incompetent.

It doesn't happen on the US servers. The login servers went down once last night and that's the first unscheduled downtime I'm aware of. It's certainly never affected me.

I wouldn't say that they're exactly being hammered though. I went through the social panel and there were around 1600 players on my server in prime time last night.

If you can read this, you're on a board populated by misogynist assholes.

I traded in my fun blog for several legal blogs. Or, "blawgs," as the cutesy attorney blawgosphere likes to call 'em.

10 (packed) in Europe.
Is it safe to say that this is the first major MMORPG to have almost 50/50 players between USA and NA? Or more, in proportion, that is more succesfully in Europe than in NA?

IF it's true, I'd say this is interesting.

Until there's some kind of numbers out, it's really hard to say if there's more players in the EU than the US right now.  Maybe Codemasters just sucks at keeping the servers up.

If this is true, such news deserves the bigger thread in the MMOG Discussion board.

Well, the latest ELSPA PC sales chart certainly shows LOTRO at the number one slot in the UK chart.  I think that's got a lot to do with the high-profile marketing that has been going on everywhere from TV-rotation to the sides of buses.  On the other hand it may be, of course, that pre-orders have all been rolled up into launch week, since that chart is up until five days ago.

And before any yanks take time out from invading countries to start whining about provincial euro marketplaces take a look for the last F13 thread on the subject where that idea quickly got knocked on the head: the UK alone is a big software market for mainstream titles.

I'd expect it to be true for launch week.  Whether it holds up beyond is the thing, though.

Those illegitimate children born of the unholy union of two extremely incompetent and lazy cryptozoological specimens Codemasters did it again: last night, Euro primetime, the login server crashes.  And stays crashed.  For a looong time.  Hours.  If you were already in, fine.  Just don't drop the connection.

Edit: Dammit I was saving my post 666 for something special.

Yeah, those Codemasters fuckers should get sued by Turbine for screwing up repeatedly and the license taken away.

Yes, the desire to be forgiving is wearing off. I hate bitching about the game (or service) as I really like playing, but got to get it out of my system.

There were similar problems in the EU beta during the two stress tests, but people accepted that because we assumed it would allow Codemasters to fix everything ready for live . . .

Something else I've noticed is that when their login servers are having problems, their website also has problems (again, this was the same in beta). It is currenly loading, but extremely slowly. I know pretty much nothing about technical stuff but it seems to suggest they have some sort of general problem with their setup (not enough bandwidth??).
