A BBC correspondent says the attacks are being blamed by some on a demon called "Popo Bawa" meaning winged bat. The BBC's John Ngahyoma in Dar es Salaam says not many people actually believe that the demon exists and there have been no sightings. If it's attacking people, how have there been no sightings? Is it invisible? |

Well, this is perfect. I thought this thread was going to ruin it for me. I forgot to post this story. I'm very proud, because I live right by this city. And no, it wasn't me. Man in Batman getup forced school lockdown

A Cave Creek school was placed in lockdown for a short time this morning after reports of a man in a Batman costume running across the campus, authorities said.
Scottsdale police spokesman Sgt. Mark Clark said responding officers did a sweep of Desert Arroyo Middle School campus but found no intruders. The incident, which occurred about 8:45 a.m., apparently involved a man about 6 feet 3 inches tall with facial hair.
Desert Arroyo and nearby Cactus Shadows High School were locked down for roughly 45 minutes, Clark said.
The costumed man was last spotted running into the desert away from the school. Turns out, the kid made it up. Also, apparently in Argentina there was a car accident, and the only witness was some kid dressed like Batman. So, naturally, they put him on the news. |

It's a common misconception that bats are a subset of the order Rodentia. In actuality, bats have their own order, Chiroptera, making them completely distinct from rodents.
I got a book on common points of confusion in biological nomenclature for Christmas and I just finished it yesterday. Until I've had a chance to forget most of it I plan to be insufferable. You have been warned.

It's true. And did you know that "scampi" is actually the Italian name for Norwegian lobster (also known as "Dublin Bay prawn" in some areas), and that people who use it to refer to shrimp are utterly wrong?
