I suspect that nobody cares, and that due to me caring less than most I am missing something important here, but Myst Online went live a few days ago.  Given that it always struck me as a game for Mactards, I'm surprised that the client for look-at-the-pretty-colours-price-gouging-Apple systems is due out later in the spring.  For any who didn't already know, they're using Gametap as an, erm...  distribution method?  Publisher?  That's where you get it, anyway.  Except you won't, because it's undoubtedly just as stupid as it was last time.

They are also launching the US version first, with others to follow.  I can only guess that they reckon markets like the UK require vast localisation, as surely they don't think their server farm is going to buckle.

Yet again, don't hate on me too much.  I just thought someone here might care.  Maybe some lurking housewives or something.  I'm all about the helpfulness.

I was in that beta.  After 15 minutes or so I still couldn't figure out how to get off my little island.  The quit button seemed to work best.

I saw a commercial for this on TV. It make me wish I'd actually played the whole Myst thing when it came out, all those ages ago.

They are all available on GameTap (RealMyst too), along with Universal Combat Gold.  Fill in those horrible gaps in your misspent youth!

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

Uru has some platform-y elements to it as well.

As for the pixel hunting. Hmm. Well, at least it's something. Better than non existent carrot hunting.

Uru has now been reviewed by IGN, they gave it a 7.6

Frankly I was surprised as I expected a half working train wreck of a game. It reads like it is basically myst with some chat and being able to customize your home.

That review is sort of funny. The description of the problems with avatar controls are almost identical to the ones i posted on the first wave of beta testing. I used the term "boat" instead of "tank."

This could be fun. I love the series, even if I always hafta cheat to progress. We bought this ceiling fan because it reminded me so much of Riven.

That's a pretty cool looking ceiling fan. It's both a ceiling fan and a conversation piece! ::chuckles::

I never played URU so part of me is tempted to give the MMO a trial month

I think it was worth a try even when it first came out (though the fact that it came with a single player game of URU helped). I imagine that it could only be better now.

I always liked the Myst series too though, so I could be biased.
