Now kids are continually getting on my lawn just to get the lawn-getting-off exp.

Maybe they're xp hoers? (weak pun, I know)

MMOs have cultivated a new generation of achievers.  Sadly, they are in such a rush to get to the finish line that they forget to have fun along the way.

If they were only achievers, it wouldn't be so bad.  But they're also Lazy-as-hell achievers because they're from the Strat-Guide generation.  While some call WoW "handholding" because it tells you where to find it, so fucking many of these kids can't even be bothered to read the fucking quest text.   I expect the next generation's 'accessablility' to just be clicking a button to get a quick cinematic and/or animate your character completing the quest while you sit on your ass.  Yay for Computer games as Television!

The past cannot be changed. The future is yet within your power.

I actually said "get the fuck off my lawn" to some kids this weekend. It was everything I hoped it would be.

There is some subconscious irony in the server names.

DDO is based on Ebberon, which is a hot IP to Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro/whatever the hell they want to call themselves.  It has a pretty well-established canon for such a new RPG world.

In the world of Ebberon (where DDO is set), the Keeper and the Devourer are names for two of The Six, which is a pantheon of evil gods.  The Keeper is considered the God of Death, while the Devourer is the God of Destruction.

I am wondering if selecting those two names for the server merge is a subtle way of telling the DnD hardcore, "This game is tanking fast, run!"

We now return to your regularly scheduled foolishness, already in progress.

Server merges certainly can't be a good sign. [/obvious]
