Considering the crap DDO got for the same rapid-leveling thing happening there, surely all that remains is the autopsy.   Let the doomcasting commence.  Geldon?

While I share your views on the idiot in question, I am sure that he has a *lot* more L60s with which he can catass to victory.

Ah, the French.  I wondered how the hell it happened so quick, but that 6 or 7 hour head-start would really help.

First 70 BE/ Draeni should be in the next day or possibly two if they're slow about it.

Ed:  Oh, it's a mage.  Not nearly as impressive.  From the looks of the group taking the screenshot they were chain pulling for him to AOE down.  Things go fast when you're grind-killing 8 mobs at a time.  The first L70 of the new races will be a Blood Elf if they use the same tactic, since Draeni can't be mages and all.

Quit, claiming that the game is boring, then haunt messageboards about the game, holding forth to anyone who will listen about what a contentless terrible mess of an experience it is.

Witty banter not included.

From what i could gather on a quick browse around the forums, this guy is from one of the Uber guilds on Archimonde, and he and most of his guildies had already seen and done nearly everyhting there was TO do in Beta over the course of around 2 months.  So they are probably going to power to 70, and then spend time raiding karazan / etc.

I rolled a Draenei mage last night.  Don't think it'll be l70 tomorrow tho.  ;)

Draeni can be mages? I thought that was one of the two they couldn't be.  Maybe I was thinking of Warlock. Hrm.

.. Warriors, Pallies, Shaman, .. Rogues that's the other one, right?  They're right there cursing with Tauren about their hooves.

WTF how?

The best recorded time to level 1-60 is around 3.5 days played. In less he exploited big time, I have no idea how he would do that.

WTF how?

I do not know. I'm assuming it involved some sort of insane power catassing with the help of his guild. The warrior standing next to her was in the same guild and had 6/8 Dreadnaught, thunderfury, and an elementium reinforced bulwark. I don't play enough to know who's who on this server, but I imagine the rest of the guild is similarly "dedicated".

Hmmm... I wonder how fast you can level in a group with mages just running around AOEing whole zones worth of stuff.

I dont understand why a "dedicated" guild would spend all that guild resource in powerleveling a BE Warlock. Pally I could understand, cause thats for the good of the guild, but a BE Lock?

Are you sure it was a "real" BE and not some one with some sort of appreance changer, a la Orb of Deception?

Well, then they'd be impervious to any kind of criticism.  Someone who spends twelve to sixteen hours a day doing math and physics problems is surely living life to it's fullest.  If only these foolish MMO players could understand that no MMO can enrich your life to the extent that doing math and physics problems can.

Nothing.

Challenges in video games are designed to be solved, by even the lowest common denominator.   If video games were like Statistical Mechanics they'd be against the law for the tendency to cause those who play "hardcore" to off themselves.

Hmm, maybe vedeo games should be more like statistical mechanics...

I wouldn't be surprised if many of the people doing these things do get about to useful "real world" activities too, as that kind of driven nature tends to express itself in a few ways.

However Maths and Physics also requires a specific aptitude, so their luck there is going to depend on something other than effort

I did that, heh, when I was in high school.  Got me a semester worth of credits towards college classes, and a seriously cool scholarship that cut my 20k a year college tuition in half (then the other standard scholarships and loans applied, and I didn't really have to pay that much out of pocket; an internship job during, and an ok job for 2 years after, took care of it).

The first person who designs a boss encounter that is really a manifestation of a new physics or math problem profits.  Because some catass guild will solve it.

I just did a /who 65- and it looks like the local dominant uberguild already had 5-6 members hit 66-67 already. The second uberguild has about 10 people at 65.

Me, I barely hit 61.. I shudder to think what must be done to p'level entire groups so fast. Repetitive instance farming?

That's one way. The other is to just know where all the quests are, and be ahead of the curve so that you're killing mobs without any competition at all.  It's easy to get "kill xx mobs" and "Collect XX feet" quests done when you can just pull the entire spawn and AOE it into oblivion.

Hell, I'm 61 and 4 bubbles WITH all the server crashes, lag and restarts Alleria's had.  I'm not catassing, either, as I think I've played a total of about 8 hours.  Just knowing what quests there were is a huge help.  For example, I know I can skip collecing the 'cursed talismans' or doing the goblin quests in Hellfire with the 70 other Alliance players in those two areas and head on over to Zangramarsh to do Cenarion Expedition quests and kill Bog Lords instead.

The past cannot be changed. The future is yet within your power.

I think chaining quests would probably be faster than instance farming if you knew where everything was, given the quests seem to give 10k-12k experience at 60-62. Then again, if you knew the instance inside-out and could do all the pulls quickly and without incident that could rival quest chain XP.

Short Interview with the guy who made it to 70

Took him about 28 hours. Looks like he'd solo tag a mob and then a bunch of guildies would jump on it.

Quote from: Eyonix
By far, the largest number of players are currently between levels 60 and 62. Additionally, each level jump takes a longer period of time investment. I'd also gather that most players who are much higher have focused on little anything else other than power-leveling.

The smallest portion of the population who've reached the maximum level (or are rapidly approaching), should not be an indicator that the leveling curve is too lenient. Had we designed the time to level around the most "hardcore of hardcore", you'd probably be posting about how horrible you feel because after a couple days of playing you have two bubbles of experience.

Personally, I don't think I'll hit 70 within a month with my current playtime.  Playing 3 chars (1 sub 60) and only on rested EXP.  My shaman's nearing 61 and I've really just been farting around completing a quest here and there.  I'm usually a fast leveler, but I've just got no impetus to do so now.

Quest crowding isn't going to help either.  There were maybe 10 people trying to complete this one Hellfire Penninsula quest last night, the one where you need like 6 demon blood (mobs were tapped within seconds of spawning).  Orcs were camped up the wazoo too.
