I finally heard the audio during this contest, and let me tell you, these DJ's are toast in a jury trial. They said the whole danger of being killed by water poisoning was ok because the contestants signed a fucking release. They are laughing about it. A jury is going to hang them over their jocularity.
I'd convict pretty much any chucklefuck morning DJ just for breathing my air. |

These guys basically deserve to hang. Signed releases or not. Encouraging people to do something they know can be deadly without any health personel on hand and laughing about it. And it's not like this was rock climbing where you can die from an accident - if you drink too much water you will die, every time. The might as well have had an arsenic drinking contest.
Water poisoning happens a fair amount to endurance athletes, last year (or the year before?) someone doing the Boston marathon died from water intoxication. People start feeling odd and figure they aren't getting enough water, so they drink some more.
You typically have to drink a lot of water for this to happen, someone died recently in a hazing incident where they drnk something like 5 gallons!
Some sort of electrolyte imbalance starts fucking with your and your brain can swell. This poor woman, if someone had known what was going on they could have induced vomiting and given her some salt or something and she would have been ok. It is hard to believe that after participating in a water drinking contest, then crying about how much her head hurt nobody would think to call a fucking doctor or anything - just unbelievable.
The guys that had the contest are basically sociopaths, they deserve life in prison. Complete and utter disregard for human life.

The girl who died walked into the studio when she gave up, and the DJ's said on the air her stomach looked like she was pregnant, it was so bloated from drinking water.
I think pure genetic stupidity is certainly the culprit here.

I think we need to build a new beer bong Way. I think we were doing it wrong all those years ago when we went for a split to 4 people bonging at the same time. It should have been 4 funnels emptying into 1 person.

We had a beer bong at the company lake weekend at my old job. We'd go from the office parking lot on a huge bus at 8AM, drinking irish coffees/bloody maries/mamosas the whole hour and a half drive, and then arrive at a kickass house owned by the head boss right on Lake Burton. I think we bonged about 3 beers a piece and then went dual tubing off the back of the speedboat. I think being drunk kept me from noticing that tubing hurts like shit when you bail out, because I kept getting back on and asking for more. The busride home wasn't nearly as lively.  |
