Troll gets +5 to bows and has berserk available to up attack speed and casting time every few minutes.
...and uh, +5% damage to beasts.

I love shadowmeld for my NE hunter. It's so useful.
Was thinking of making a BE hunter for kicks and comparisons (and yes, because I like player hunter so much).
Shadowmeld is nice, but since the changes not quite as overpoweringly useful. Was a pity -- a shadowmelded hunter was right up there in "piss the Horde right the fuck off" as the some of the Horde racials were at pissing the Alliance off. I'm rather glad I ended up with a Dwarf. Stoneform is hands down an awesome PvP ability, and Track Treasure comes in handy in PvE. The +5 to guns isn't bad, although gun itemization sucks, sucks, sucks, SUCKS.

I would love to be a dwarf but they're just too squat-looking. Yes, I'm shallow enough to want to be purty when I play.

Yeah, but Dwarves and gnomes get away with shit like "Hitting Cheetah and running around the raid in spastic circles while the Raid Leader explains the fight". Or "Constantly making the "train" noise behind the mages". Plus, I've used those big bushes in the middle of WSG to my advantage a number of times.

Shadowmeld. Shadowmeld breaks when you start an action -- no more aimed shots from Shadowmeld. Hiding in a bush, especially in a furball, means until everyone else is dead they don't tend to go looking for you. I've managed to drain my mana bar, FD, drink up, and shoot some more there before only Horde was left and they realized there was a pet active so a hunter had to be somewhere -- I think the mage I killed probably clued them off. I'd rather have Stoneform anyways -- useful in combat. Shadowmeld makes you a pocket rogue for flag defending -- they'll miscount the number of defenders -- but I'm iffy on it being better than stone form now. Back when you could get off an aimed before it broke, hell yeah it was better.

I have a 60 Warlock on Muga'Thol, and I love playing that class. Unless you get stun locked, you can pretty much own or be competitive vs anyone else. And yeh, I love watching people die to my dots if they killed me while I was caught by surprise.

Paladins are just horrible at leveling throughout [judge crusader, seal command, autoattack, re-seal command as needed, heal after a kill... judging eats too much mana, probably crusader strike too]. I saw a ret paladin and a fury warrior grind side-by-side in Felwood with similar gear... the warrior killed 3 mobs in the time it took the pally to kill 1. Even though the warrior had to bandage every 5-6 kills, he still came out far ahead.

My first char to 60 was a paladin. Out of my 4 60 lvl chars, it was 3x worse than all combined. Never again. Not only was it slow, but it could not be anymore boring.

I loved my troll hunter, but everyone I played with left or switched to Alliance, so she sits alone and unused.
What makes trolls good as hunters? ... Play what you enjoy playing, because otherwise you will never enjoy playing it at 60 - or 70 rather. I like the look of female trolls (with the one good face). I also like Tauren, but was considering a druid alt and wanted to play different races. (I don't like the Tauren cat form though, so I am glad my Druid ended up being a night elf.) The Troll bonus to bows came after I stopped playing her, but is nice. My first priority in choosing any character is how she will look. Bonuses are just that to me, and have negligible sway on my choice.

Same here. That's why my Hunter is a male dwarf (guns + the awesome). My priest is a male dwarf. My rogue and my druid are female Night Elves. My pally and mage are female humans. It does suck, as I finally did find a male human model I liked, but after I'd already played up the only classes I'd put him in. I've got a male Tauren shaman, and a female undead Warlock -- I rarely play on the Horde side, and those might get replaced with Alliance characters. I just like my guild too much, and our Horde alt guild is just never populated.

So anyway, my shaman is level 13 and I did a little PVP. I dueled a priest a couple levels lower and won, dueled a guildmate's warrior a couple levels higher and lost. A mob of fifty or sixty high-level alliance came into the barrens to raise hell, so I ran around throwing newbie lightning bolts at them, getting bitchslapped, then rezzing to do it again for a while. Total lack of PVP death penalty for the win.

Yeah, I used to do that in Westfall when my Hunter was level 18 or so. Fondest memory of PvP came from there -- a group of about 5 or 6 level 60 Horde were showing up and killing guards and the occasional flagged PC. (The rogue was having a great time, killing guards and vanishing before anyone could see him). We started fighting back as level 60s started showing up, and after a bit of back and forth they started retreating. Except for the Druid and the Rogue, who kept amusing themselves using stealth. We caught the druid, who shifted to travel form to run away when he was down to the tiniest sliver of health (and a lot of DoTs). I hit cheetah to follow him and managed to tag him with CC shot -- and then he died. (From the DoTs, not my pathetic level 18 hunter damage). It just looked cool, because from my perspective I ran up a hill and killed a fleeing enemy with a single shot.
