It's almost unbelievable. The only way something like that could make it 5 minutes in QA is that they really, truly, do not care.

That is super shitty.  What the hell machine was that on?  That's like Xbox loadtimes.

EDIT: turning up the sound works great to help me hear what is going on.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

Jesus fucking Christ, that's a goddamn travesty. Not only should the entire QA department be fired, the programmers and designers responsible for that particular design should be dickslapped to the unemployment line.

That's... that's insane. I don't think I've EVER seen a game with load times that bad.

Imagine if WoW was zoned with those kind of load times.

Zone into bank, load.

Do banking, zone to Ironforge, load.

Run across bridge to auction house, load.

Run back into Ironforge, load.

Do mailing, run to flight point, load.

Yeesh.

But that Captain's salami tray was tight, yo. You plump for the roast pork loin, dogg?

Spectral Souls for the PSP loads slower. And more often.

Off the memory stick.

At least the load screens took advantage of the PS3's 1080p capability.

He says it's 360 in the beginning though, pretty impressive of the 360 to take advantage of the PS3 1080p capabilities in loading screens  cheesy

Load times suck on the PS3 too, but they are so much nicer without the interlace.   wink

I can't even imagine what it'll be like on PS3 since the BD offers far slower throughput than the drive in the 360.

Good christ that's awful, tho.

Just to mention, PS3 developers can take advantage of hard driving cacheing by default (unlike 360 ones). Which they already do in existing games.

The Blu-Ray drive might read a bit slower than DVD 9, but this shouldn't be looked at as comparison between components. The entire platform models need to be measured against each other. You can't look at it as if you were buying PC parts at NewEgg.

Less data needs to be compressed on BD. Therefore less data needs to be uncompressed when loading.

Read time is slower on BD. Seek time is faster.

The Xbox DVD drive reads normal discs at 12x speed --- But dual layer at 8x speed. The BD drive has no penalty on dual layer.

The 360's RAM is much slower compared to the PS3's (3.2 Ghz XDR vs the 360's Shared 700Mhz GDDR3).

[EDIT] Sorry for the semi-fanboism, but some of these things need to be pointed out.

Drive read or caching is irrelevant here. This is a p.o.s effort. Every port or cross-platform game undergoes some optimization for it's target platform. The PS3's slower drive will never be a practical issue, just as Blu Rays greater storage will be of limited practical value for games. This video, if accurate (and there's several links to PS3 threads showing loading just as bad), is simply a showcase for a game that is fucking broken. Irrespective of platform.

Speaking of marketing, we're out of milk.

I wanted to say that too, but I figured I'd try to respond to some misconceptions. ;)

Yes, it's a shitty game. That's that.

When games today are only 5-10 hours long, you gotta pad 'em out somehow.  tongue

Holy shit, I was nearly driven to homicidal rage just by watching that video.  Although the lameness of the mission was nearly as bad.
