I hate Santa.

How could anyone POSSIBLY hate Santa?  In response I have chosen a Santa avatar to try and sway your opinion.

My holiday wish is that everyone gets the MMO they're really looking for.  :-D

I hate Christmas. It is the single biggest pain in the ass of the entire year.

Christmas IS a big pain.  I remember that, at least, it used to look mostly pretty.  Now, wherever I go, I see huge inflatable Santa's and all these  weird looking globes with strange critters moving inside.  It's scary and ugly.  Everything is inflated, included prices.

On our block there's an inflatable christmas scene of a reindeer lowering Santa down a chimney, but my wife and I thought it just made it look like Santa was going down on the reindeer over and over and over.

It probably gets lonely up there on the Pole. So to speak.

Just so wrong.

Yeah, it can be a pain if you let it.  I simply don't let it.  It's not worth being frazzled and feeling all obliged to people I wouldn't give 2 shits about the rest of the year.  We take care of ourselves and do one family get together w/o all the rest of the crap. :)

I can agree on the inflatable tackiness, though.  We have a 9' tall inflatable toy soldier and I feel it's overblown, so I set it back off the front of the house so it's not so damned overwhelming.  I don't get the 10' snowglobes and 12' snowman-snowglobes and such.  They're worse than the little 3' plastic snowman you used to see in the 70's and 80's.

This is a good time of year to make your charitible donations,  and to check who you've forgotten to give to that you usually do.  It's budget time for alot of non-profits, and many of the them could benefit from an extra few dollars in donations.

I had forgotten my donation to Planned Parenthood,  for instance,  until last week...  though I don't think NPR is getting my money this year.

Hey, good point. I dropped off about a thousand bucks worth of clothes at the Sal Army about a month ago and my charity of choice is Hospice Care, because they totally fucking rock if you've got a dying elderly relative. Being able to spend your last days at home instead of a hospital is the way to go, if you've gotta.

Don't forget your local libraries, either. Any books in decent condition will be considered, unless it's a technical manual from the 50s or something. Even so, libraries can recycle the books for you. Just don't drop off musty stuff, mold can spread to the collection. Don't be a book terrorist!

Thanks to my prolonged exposure to the F13 boards, I've seen Winger Christmas art.  Therefore, I am desensitized to all defiling of the holiness of the season.

Still, that mostly naked drunk santa was a pretty close second.

My avatar illustrates the greatest extent of Christmas related crudeness that still remains oddly cute.

Evil, impolite, but true.  Back in the day such used to be a popular grief link.  I wouldn't recommend it these days unless you're looking for a visit by the ban stick.  I'm sticking my nose well over dangerous waters by even mentioning it.
