Note to Haemish:  Don't ever, ever, ever try RvR at 50.  That is all.

By the time I ge to level 50 RVR, I'll probably have squeezed quite a few months of fun out of the game, and won't care if I play level 50 RVR. In short, I may never try level 50 RVR, and still have fun at the game.

5) Shitton of different abilities to consider

I know I asked for reasons, just want to let you know that at higher levels, while you can consider all the abilities, you'll really only end up using a few in almost all situations because they're the best. But I will agree with you that the variety of abilities is great and if you choose to break the mold and actually use more than just the most powerful skill chain for your class, you can spice things up a little (albeit while losing to someone who spams their uber skill chain for the win ;). But again, glad to see you're enjoying it. If I could talk someone into paying for me, I would play around in the battlegrounds now and then... alas, no takers on the "free MMOG for Soukyan"... yet.

Anything that lessens the grind to get to 'the good stuff' (in this case, PvP) is all good.

Bollocks. What server/realm is everyone playing on? I would prefer an underdog/underpopulated realm...must be the old Hibernian coming out in me.

Lancelot/Albion.   Not exactly underpopulated or underdog.

I just came back to DAoC myself... is it possible to take a character and move it to a different server?

No. But you can move it to another account... for a price. ;)

But they should do server transfers. I'm guessing the reason they don't is that they would charge for it and the players would be in an uproar because they would view it as something necessary to balance populations and therefore a service that should be free. I'm thinking it'll be after Catacombs releases until they decide to attempt the server transfer deal.

DAoC is a crappy grind at the lower levels and I am sure they were trying to copy the concept of CoH and Wow to be more "casual" friendly and compete with all the new games coming out.  However,  this design has got to be one of the worst I have seen (are we sure this isn't an EA idea?)  I agree they should do something about the slow movement of lower levels since it turns off n00bs who can't really participate in PvP/RvR without being higher level, but is this really the best Mythic Entertainment could come up with?  If so, pretty pathetic!

What amazes me most about a thread full of amazing turn-abouts is that Haemish's post is simply a well-written version of everything anyone has said about their MMORPG at one time or another. And sometimes have been subsequently yelled down for it.

But maybe those days are behind us.

Really just the difference between a Fan and a Fanboi. It's cool to see some folks actually liking a game without having to ram it down someone else's throat.

A Fan says "I like it. Here's why:"

A Fanboi says "You like it. You're just too stupid to realize it yet."

It's good because Mythic is making it.
