Has anyone used the mod called Baldur's Gate TuTu? It somehow updates the original Baldur's Gate to use the Baldur's Gate II engine. Was it stable? Did it conflict with other mods?

Yes it is stable. No, it does not conflict with other mods as I recall.

Sweet. Now to make sure I don't muck anything up. I'm not going mod crazy, I'm installing unfinished business for BG1 and 2. It supposedly restores some quests and stuff that were cut for time, but still had scripting and dialogue that could be found within the game.

Also installing Baldurdash, a fan made list of fixes for both games.

Cool beans. I've put BG2 on the list of games to revisit while I'm on my 'no new games' hiatus. Didn't think about checking for mods.

I posted a thread on this on another forum which has an exhaustive guide to BG2 mods:

http://www.quartertothree.com/game-talk/showthread.php?t=30282

Generally you want to do TuTu instead of BGT, it's more compatible. BGT tries to make a seamless transition between BG1 and BG2 but it breaks a lot. If you DO play TuTu/BGT, be sure to install this:

http://www.gibberlings3.net/bg1npc/index.php

It's a modpack for the BG1 NPCs which tries to, and does a pretty good job of bringing the NPC dialogue up to BG2 standards. Now you can see exactly why Imoen is so irritating!

A central point for ALL BG1/BG2 mods:

http://modlist.pocketplane.net/

There's a lot of fan-made content. Most of it is horrible.

Hmmm..interesting post Lum.

I'm half considering installing an Imoen romance mod I found but it makes me feel dirty to think about it.

Do any of these play nice with existing BG1 saves? I've been picking away at the game again, but it's tough for me to go back to that shitty shit shit resolution. I would mod it Just to get more "game" on my screen.

Why exactly is Imoen so irritating? My backlog of games to finish doesn't allow me to replay BG just to answer that question.

Because she looks about 27 years old, but talks as if she were 4.  I didn't need a mod to tell me I should stab her to giblets as soon as I could get another thief.

BGTutu which is the one that allows BG1 to be played in the BG2 engine doesn't work with existing saves for BG1 to my knowledge. That's because it uses the BG2 save structure and it also allows characters to use BG2 skillsets and kits so the characters I guess are probably incompatible.

Oh come on, Imoen isn't so bad.

But in my evil playthrough, I grabbed Safana the harlot rogue.

mini-necro.

Thanks to this thread, I've been falling in love with BG2 all over again  Heart

Does anyone know where I can find a mod that will let me pick a kit for a dual class character's second class?  I want to make a vanilla fighter that duals to bounty hunter because I suck too much to play a straight BH.  But the game only lets you pick a kit for your first class, not your second.  He;lp.

Not sure any such mod exists. That would be a major tweak to the class programming, as you usually can only dual into a standard class.

Ah, that figures. I guess I can probably get most of the same effect by going straight BH and shadowkeepering a few stats, so it shouldn't be a big deal.

Great.  I finished BG2, but without the expansion.  Now I'm going to have to dig out my BG1 & 2 disks, plus try to find the damn expansion.

I should have never read this thread.  I'm guessing that BG2 disks are gonna be hard to find non-used.

I traded in my fun blog for several legal blogs. Or, "blawgs," as the cutesy attorney blawgosphere likes to call 'em.

My girlfriend and I are playing both games plus the expansions coop all the way through. It's been great fun so far though she is rolling her eyes at the romance sub plots.

Over here in the UK they just released BG1 + TotSC and BG2 + ToB all on the same dvd.  It was only a couple of months ago.  I'd be surprised if you couldn't find something like that in the US if you check online

On the subject of revisiting BG/BG2 I would recommend for anyone to play a solo sorceror as the playstyle is very different (in some ways easier/faster too). However I wouldn't suggest doing it for BG1. I did enough to think it is likely very possible (got up to the 2nd candlekeep) but it is very very boring as without really nice summons that last a long time you spend too much time either resting after you run out of fireballs/summons or you have to hit and run against every pack of gibberlings or xvarts. There was an excellect solo sorcerer guide on tips for equipment and spell choices around somewhere but I no longer have it and a quick search didn't yeild anything, if anyone wants to try it I'd definately recommend the guide if you can find it.

Heh, I'm running the concurrent romance mod "so you can see all of their endings honey".

Unfortunately, when I went through BG2 originally, I was locked into Jaheira's plot...I think...

But I think I screwed up by having too much "faction" with Aerie. Or something. Or maybe I blitzed past a point in the game where the plot would advance (And I usually never blitz through a game). Whatever I did, I missed out on the ending.  angry

But I 2-shotted the final boss...well, it was practically a 1-shot, because she was down to 1 HP after my first attack. Not sure I would have traded that for the conclusion of the romance plot.

Jaheira's romance is the most complicated and fun, but is also notoriously buggy. You almost have to have shadowkeeper and know how the romances work to be guranteed of it finishing.

Anyone able to link to a transcript or something? I'd like to read what I missed, because I'm not playing through again just to see a couple lines of Dialogue.

When I play through again, it'll be as an evil sorcerer who has a thing for Drow women.

I remember reading a romance dialogs guide, or maybe just dialog in a big NPC dialog guide. I'll see if I can find it.

EDIT: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/dl.php?s=BG2&f=BG2/RomancingGuide.zip

There's a whole lot of crap in there on how to do the romances, but if you scroll down there's a nice bit of dialog that shows all the things your love interests say and what you can reply. Pretty extensive.
