My recommendations:

This Monitor. Best monitor I have ever owned. It's not the perfect pristine quality of the $1500+ LCDs you see, but it's very very good, has DVI/Component/Composite inputs, 8ms response time, 8-bit panel, good contrast ratio, decent colors and blacks, and it's cheap to boot.

Sansa e2xx series MP3 player. Better than the iPod in every way it counts unless you like iTunes.

Just bought these:

and these:

The first ones come with a USB soundcard for $10 more if you can buy them and they are fannnnntastic. Good for music, TV, and gaming.

Schild, have you tried the inear ones outside w/ lots of noise yet? how do they operate?  Those look like something I'm looking for.  I bought the Shure $179.99 (ec5?) and used them on a plane, the earplug part worked fantastic, but you have to replace them earplug part every few weeks or you risk an ear infection.  Like hell I'm paying nearly 200 dollars for something + buying replaceable parts.  Love that those icemat's have a mic on them too, could come in super useful.

The cords very long?
