Of Special Note
Players may now enter Ered Luin (Welcome to Ered Luin!)
New starter experiences have been added for Elves and Dwarves!
Red squirrels now look like red squirrels.
Gameplay
You now have a mood which is affected by where you are in the world and what's around you. Your mood will, in turn, affect your maximum morale, the damage you cause, the amount you are healed, and your chance to miss in combat.
The Monster XP awards to players in groups have been increased. Killing Signatures and Elites yields more XP than a normal monster, making them good targets for groups.
Auto-attack timing has been updated to improve responsiveness and interleaving with other skills.
Skills
Get your wallet or purse out when you visit the trainer. There is now a cost to training new skills.
Skills that aren't supposed to aggro monsters will no longer do so when you miss or they resist the effects.
The out-of-range indicator on skill quickslots will now show up for self-anchored area-of-effect attacks, e.g. the Champion's "Blade Wall" skill.
Increased the radius of monster tracking skills. You will be able to track monsters that are beyond what you can see on the client now.
Includes various balance tweaks to the Hunter, Champion and Guardian.
Buffs have been adjusted in many classes.
The Champion's Sudden Defence skill has had its description updated to reflect that it no longer prevents Fervour generation.
The Champion's skill descriptions now properly reflect the addition of an extra off-hand attack hook when you dual-wield where applicable.
Skills that you cast on your pet should auto-target the pet now.
Lore-master: Gust of Wind area of effect has been reduced to allow for a more tactical use.
Lore-master now has access to Wisdom of the Council at level 20.
Lore-master now has access to Light of the Rising Dawn at 18.
Lore-master: Burning Embers now has a slow effect on it, and it has a much bigger upfront pulse. The power cost has been adjusted accordingly.
Shoot skill for Guardian has been moved to level 30.
Crossbows can be used by Guardians at level 30.
Loremaster's Burning Embers skill is now an induction instead of a channeled skill.
Captains Mark Skills have a longer Cooldown.
Loremaster "Metal-Lore" has been removed and now is replaced by "Fire-Lore."
All the Lore skills are on a longer cooldown, however, they are now on a much faster cooldown.
Skill reset timers for the Marks have been adjusted.
Minstrels now have faster induction times.
The duration that a monster is stunned by the Burglar's 'Startling Twist' is increased to 8 seconds.
The Hunter's "Find the Path" run speed buff will now increase movement by 15% regardless of level.
The Captain's "Command: Make Haste" run speed buff will now increase movement by 25% regardless of level.
Traits/Accomplishments
Fixed an exploration bug that caused some exploration quests to incorrectly track landmark discoveries.
The 'Now For Wrath' accomplishment will bestow and advance correctly when 'Rallying Cry' is used.
The Captain's Banner of 'X' accomplishments will now bestow and advance correctly when your heralds are summoned.
The Hardy Bear accomplishment is now only advanced by summoning your bear. The required number of uses have been reduced accordingly.
Implemented 3 new exploration accomplishments for the Misty Mountains
User Interface
Tutorial hints added for Custom UI, Autorun and Fellowship forming.
There is a new mood display on the radar. Its icon changes to reflect your current mood. Mousing over the display will present a tooltip with details.
A dialog will now appear when you attempt to sell more than 16 items at a time to make sure you really want to sell.
Ignore now works with game specific communication (say, shout, emote, etc)
Added a double-click action to the guild, who, lfg, lfp, and friend panels.
Added context-sensitive menus to guild, who, lfg, lfp, and friend panels.
Added tooltips for guild, who, lfg, lfp, and friend panels.
The social panels now show your correct location when activating the LFG/LFM panels.
There is now an icon to indicate when voice chat is enabled, and for when you are transmitting voice data.
The ignore list is now case insensitive.
New improved social panel with resizing. All lists have similiar information.
The Ready To Complete checkbox should be the same in the quest tracker and in the quest journal.
Extraneous quest rings are gone from the minimap.
The normal player floating name color and fellowship floating name color are darker.
If you select an NPC or monster, then an inanimate object (i.e. Rowan Wood), then toggle the UI off and ON, the NPC portrait won't show up next to the description of the Rowan Wood.
Using the fellowship selection keys (f1-f6) selects your fellow.
Doubletapping the fellowship keys (e.g. f2,f2) will select that fellow's pet if one exists.
Please let us know if you see more instances of floating names for equipped items... they shouldn't appear anymore.
Added the dressing room UI. Activate it by ctrl-left clicking on any item, and it will equip it to your character in the dressing room. It will keep updating the appearance until you push the "reset" button.
Added a new option to allow you to disable the ability for skills to automatically enable auto-attack when executed.
Chat
Tons of changes have been made to the chat system, so many that we had to make a whole new post! Click here to read it.
Archet once again has its own set of chat channels. Players in the Archet area will have access to Archet specific LFG, OOC, General and Auction channels.
When talking to the channels and hearing from the channels, the game now displays the short name for those channels (OOC instead of Breeland - OOC for example).
Fixed the "Cannot Connect to the Chat Server" error on startup.
Inactive chat tabs will now change appearance if they have new text.
Crafting
Fixed an issue causing crafting resources on the landscape to vanish.
Overhill should now have a selectable woodworking bench and Woodworking crafting NPC.
Thanks to the magical difference between "True" and "False", advanced farming recipes were unavailable. Fixed!
Tailoring: All light armor recipes have been updated to include the use of various types of cloth.
Tailoring: New crafting ingredients added: Bolts of cloth!
Tailoring: Removed Metalworking ingredients from all Light and Medium Armor recipes.
Tailoring: The various bolts of cloth used in tailoring should now be using the correct icons.
Optional Ingredients: The first pass for Optional Ingredients is now complete. Players will be able to add an optional ingredient to virtually all normal Jeweller, Metalworking, Scholar, Tailor, Weaponsmithing, and Woodworking recipes. The optional ingredient will significantly increase the chances for producing a critical result.
Critical Crafting products: Many critical crafting products were either the same as their non-critical counterparts, or had the wrong stat and quality settings. Except for the critical crafting products produced by the Scholar profession, players should find the critical items they are producing are noticeable superior to their non-critical counterparts.
Items
You can no longer merge stackable items into containers that shouldn't accept items, e.g. mines.
Elven, dwarven, and Westernesse armor now have unique icons for all armor.
Scatha's Axe has had its description and damage type tweaked for lore purposes.
The cloak from "Heading West" now works properly.
Coin drops from monsters have been lowered across mid to high levels. The amount dropped by mid and high level monsters were too large and had to be scaled down.
Reduced odds of finding uncommon/rare items from most elites. However, an uncommon or rare item will now always drop from rare spawns. Elites used in quests and instances and raids still have the same drop rate for uncommon/rare items.
Another round of price adjustments were done to resolve a series of bugs, the most notable were those that caused items of different levels to be valued the same. This adjustment in prices will be seen for almost every item that can be bought or sold. Some prices have been lowered while others raised.
The Battle Lore and Battle Ward scrolls now apply effects to those in your fellowship as long as the members are within 20 meters of the caster. These scrolls also have a 30 minute cooldown timer. The magnitude of the effects have been reduced to give no more than a 5% increase to magic, melee, and ranged defense/offense.
Some rare items were still set to bind-on-acquire and now they are set to bind-on-equip.
Books of Lore (Loremaster items), Pennants (Captain items), and Instruments (Minstrel items) have increased durability. Price and repair cost have increased on these items.
Fixed description errors and/or typos on Hammer of Baldor, Gauntlets of Westmarch, Brigand dagger sheaths, several Crawler trophy items, Club of the Adventurer, and the Mace of Moria.
Dagger of the Serpent and Club of the Adventurer now do shadow damage.
Rivermaiden Cloak, Cloak of Megoriath, and Cloudmantle now appear correctly on male Elf avatars.
More adjustments to item wear to make common items cheaper to repair so that the cost of repair should never be more than buying a brand new item.
All items should wear less often during combat.
Curing salves now sold at the provisioner. These can heal conditions on you, pets, and other players.
Spears are now being sold at one-handed weapon shops. These were mistakenly being sold at two-handed weapon shops.
Halberds now available at level 15 and can be found in some two-handed weapon shops.
Fixed a bug that caused rare trophy items to not be valued as such. All trophy items were being priced as common items before this change. Now those trophy items which are considered more rare than others will be worth more money.
Cloth is now available at the provisioner.
Guardian can now use crossbows at level 30.
Horns (Champion items) are available at the trainer. Horns can be used to stun multiple targets.
Using curing potions and salves will no longer have the potential of causing item wear.
Greatly reduced the chance of item wear happening when using bear traps and multi-traps (Hunter items).
Graphics/Animation
New 'Ultra High' graphics quality level! This is still a work in progress.
Many other graphics options have been changed to allow for 'Ultra' settings, such as 'Frill Distance', 'Object Draw Distance', 'Stencil Shadows' and 'Model Detail'.
The 'Landscape Object Shadows' preference has been changed to allow the quality of the shadows to be customized. Additionally, landscape shadows can now be rendered in 'Ultra' quality.

The Human Male now has a landing when he jumps on the run.
Only the Icon for your own trainer will display when you have overhead iconics on now.

Hobbiton Mill now has a door.
The travel route from Forsaken Inn to East Bree should be repaired.
Various objects and structures have been moved to reduce the liklihood of players getting stuck on them.
Some quest targets (items) have had their placement adjusted to reduce the likelihood that they would generate and float above the ground.
Various Garth Agarwen fixes
Keys now work properly
Doors no longer lock people out of Boss fights
Bypass is now blocked off by locked door both ways.
The entrance to the brigand and orc cave in Cirith Nur has been adjusted to make it easier to enter.
Fixed spots where players can get stuck in the Forsaken Inn, Tom Bombadil’s House, several spots in the Jailbreak instance, Nain Enidh, Ost Guruth, and Esteldin.
Fixed the floating skull in Skunkwood’s caves.
Added dungeon map for Ost Guruth.

Removed duplicate vendors in Bree, added missing ones, and consolidated them to two areas.
Fixed an area where a player could get stuck in Skunkwood's Hideout.
Players should now be able to enter the Trollshaws caves.
Character Creation
Naming Guidelines have been added to Character Generation. These are based on Race, Gender, and Nationality. These guidelines are intended to encourage names that "sound" like "real" Middle-earth names, not actually generate "real" names.
All avatars have preliminary build scaling, to alter body shape.
Various new additions and fixes to charcter generation face options.
Your appearance won't change when flipping between choosing a class and an appearance.
No longer drawing multiple characters on top of each other in character generation.
Deleting your last character now erases it from the character generation scene.
Mail System
You can now have four Letter windows open at once.
Added a reply button to the Mail UI.
Updated the Help UI.
Miscellaneous
The orcs in the eastern section of the Lone-lands have learned to be a little nicer to their foes. Their leader has lost his elite status as a result, but hey, they are just orcs.
The wolves near the ruin-piles targeted by Candac and Falster have seen a rash of mange that has lowered their levels to something more manageable.
The Earth-kin in the Lone-lands are no longer sending you to your doom against the Trolls in the southern bog. The trolls have sufficiently shrunk in difficulty.
In the Trollshaws, Vile-filth spiders are now Trapdoor-spiders and Flesh-gnaw spiders are Flesh-gnawer Spiders.
Players will be able to see their titles again.
French, British, and German versions of the game now point to the correct help page.
Fixed a bug where examining certain traits/skills could crash your client.
Big Tom should no longer spew string table errors when defeated.
Quest items should no longer disappear when you go into combat.
NPCs no longer 'shout' at players.
Fixed a condition that could result in Effects not being removed on expiration correctly.
You should now see all of the contributions your Fellowship makes to a Conjunction attempt.
Fixed a bug that was preventing the client from displaying the effects on the player that were present when they last logged out.
Quests
Fixed directions to "Avorthals' Favourite Haunts"
“Sickening the Land” is now a pre-requisite to the quest “A Grisly Task”
Players can now get the “Old Bloodtusk” quest before or after the raid on Archet.
‘Cat's Meow’ now has the player find an old bear den; then the player must free the trapped lynx cub and bring it to the dwarf hunter.
Constable Bolger has had his logic checked and should no longer break when someone does a poor job of protecting him.
When you visit Cal Sprigley at his farm in Archet, be sure to say hello to Wil Wheatley. He's new... kind of.
Now, when you are sent off to visit Goldberry from the Red Swamp, you will actually have the ewer you need her to cleanse.
When delivering the statue to the Eglain Guard you will receive guidance to her location.
When collecting the water at the Last Bridge, you will no longer end up with a full and an empty bladder. (Yes, we know that sounds wrong.)
Though the spider elders in the Lone-lands, who are targets of the Elders in the Shadow quest, are not elites we took to heart the request to flag the quest as a one better completed in a fellowship.
Added a description to the crate for ‘Our Greatest Find.’
We agree, Killing Jagger Jack is more fun and much easier in a fellowship!
We fixed an error in a billboard for collecting the Ancient Tome for the ‘Malevolence in the Swamp’ quest. On another note, items can spawn in more than one location; some even drop off the monsters along the way in the quest.
Emelin no longer sounds like he hosts a cooking show. He now has the more appropriate name: Baradrhoval. (Say that one ten times fast!)
Cartwell's False Poison, used to poison the nasty wolves found in the Chetwood, is no longer labeled false.
The destroyed cart you find for Anlaf the lorn no longer has the descriptions associated with a barrel of nasty goblin food.
Doing ‘A Dwarfs Duty’ is a pretty rough ordeal, so we're trying it as a fellowship step for the moment.
There was an extra set of dialogue for Men in Jon Brackenbrook's completion dialogue for ‘Assault on Archet’ that contained errors. This has been removed.
Gurdring the Gauntman now stalks the ruins of Nan Tornaeth during both the day and the night, so he should be easier to find.

Chat Stuff.

Lots of changes to the chat system
"Sticky Chat Channels"
Each chat tab in the chat window will remember the last output filter that you set. For example, if you set the "General" tab to "OOC" and switch to the "Combat" tab, you will notice that the output filter text changes to "Say". Switching back to the "General" tab, the output filter text changes back to "OOC".

Chat Channel Command Replacement
Basically, as you type text into the chat entry area we try to determine if you want to change to a different output filter. For example, if you are in the "General" tab with "OOC" output filter type set and you type "/f Hi there!" the following happens: as soon as the space character is detected after "/f", we try to match the command to something we know.
"/f" equals "fellowship chat", so the output filter text changes to "Fellowship" and "Hi there!" goes to the fellowship channel. (Try it, it's easier to see rather than explain.) The current chat channel replacements are:
/say - the Say channel
/retell - the Tell channel
/rt - the Tell channel
/reply - the Tell channel
/r - the Tell channel
/f - the Fellowship channel
/k - the Kinship channel
/auction - the Auction channel
channellfg - the LFG channel
/advice - the Advice channel
/ooc - the OOC channel
/general - the General channel

Smarter /reply and /retell
When you type in /reply (/r) or /retell (/rt) the chat system will look for the last person that told you, or the last person you told and the output filter type will change to "/tell LastTeller" or "/tell LastTellee" - no more replying to the last unknown teller!

Momentary Chat Channel Command Replacement
Sometimes, you really don't want to be having a full blown conversation in the OOC channel. If your output filter text is something like "Fellowship" and you type at the chat entry "/ooc Hi everyone!" the following happens: like above, after "/ooc" the output filter text changes to "OOC" and "Hi everyone!" goes to the OOC channel. However, because OOC is marked as a "momentary" chat channel, the output filter text changes back to "Fellowship" after the command is entered. Important! This only affects command manually replaced via chat channel replacement! If you set your output filter text type to "OOC" via the menu, you will remain in "OOC"!

Channels that are currently marked as "momentary" are:
/ooc - the OOC channel
/channellfg - the LFG channel
/auction - the auction channel
/general - the general channel
/advice - the advice channel

Chat Emoting
Some words are recognized on the command line and will cause your character to emote when they are typed into the Say channel. See if you can find them all!

IM Sessions
By default, we create an "IM Session" for everyone that you send a tell to, or that sends you a tell. (If you hate the feature, open the "Options" panel, go to the "UI Settings" tab, scroll all the way to the bottom, and turn OFF the following options: "Send Tells to IM Chat Tab" and "Automatically Create IM Sessions")

A new tab has been added to the list of chat windows, named "IMs". When you click on this tab (and noone has sent you a tell) you will see a list of "Sessions" along the right hand side of the screen. This area lists the players that you send tells to, or that have sent you a tell. If you send a tell to someone or get sent a tell, the character's name will appear in the list. Clicking on their name on the list will display the private chat log that you have had with that player. You can switch sessions by clicking on the name of each player, or close out the IM session with that player by clicking on the close "X" button for that session. When a new tell comes in from the player, an "unread indicator" will be activated on that IM session. Whenever you activate an IM session, the cursor immediately goes to the chat entry line. Typing in that field will automatically send a tell to the associated person, no need to type "/tell whoever ..."

Note: the "Generic IMs" session is there to catch any tells that may come in while (or if) you have turned off the "Automatically Create IM Sessions" option, but left the "Send Tells to IM Chat Tab" option on.

The IM Session tab has a context sensitive menu, too. There are several options:
- Start IM Session... prompts you for a character name to start an IM session with. You WILL NOT receive an error on session creation if the player
does not exist or is not logged on - you will receive an error if you attempt to follow up with a tell.
- Switch to: is a drop list menu of existing IM sessions to jump quickly
between sessions
- Friends: is a drop list menu of your friends, allowing you to quickly start
an IM session with someone on that list
- Quit IM: toggles off the "Send Tells to IM Chat Tab" option and removes
the "IMs" tab from your chat window.

Sounds good.  May have to try this out. Means I may also have to roll a champion or guardian (or yetch.. burglar) to try this out.

I am torn between a Guardian or a Captain. Or maybe a Hunter. I have played a Champion, Minstrel, and Loremaster before. For some reason a burglar doesn't interest me, which is strange- I always tend toward stealth classes.

I've played good stealth classes before, burglar was not one of them.  Hopefully that class got a complete revamp in recent builds.

I need to see some stats to figure out the least played class .. for some reason I like to be different than everyone else and thus I pick the least used race/class combo. If I know what that is.

Sounds like Burglar ain't much fun.. are Captains any fun (ie: combat oriented) or are they mainly buffers?

I loved my captain solo, but did even better in the occasional groups I ran with.

Did they add a lot of new colors to the randomly dyed loot, or is it just me? I had some spiffy lavender leather shoes last night.

My things changed colors.  For awhile I had a really shiny leather shirt.  When I checked just before wipe, it was regular brown again - not shiny.

I'm about 20% through the download.  Will be making guardian Xanthippe, if the name is available.

Would be funny if you got maxed morale by staying drunk all the time.

You'd start with max morale, then you'd tell all your groupmates that you love them, mate, then you'd have party (sorry, fellowship) PVP, and then you would sink into a deep depression at half movement speed before keeling over into the gutter for a nap.

Several hours later you'd be able to log in again, in the middle of a random road. Just like Ricky.
