I can see it being a bad thing, if someone log in as you and cheats. And you lose access to all your games. All 20 of them.

Don't let other people log in as you.

Sorry, I should have elaborated for the slow-witted.

Don't include your Steam login name and password in your internet forum sigs.  Also, don't use your login name as your password.

Of course, this won't save you from N1NJ4 H4X0R5 OF D00M.  But they can make your computer explode with their thoughts, so you're fucked no matter what.

How to become a N1NJ4 H4X0R5 OF D00M, by Daeven

a vast majority of passwords are the following:

There. You now can be an 313373 H4x0r

For the advanced class, you need to research someones pet names, birthrate, or names of kids. All of which is public domain.

Once, I actually managed to get my steam account banned without getting hacked.  Apparently it was included in some Half Life 2 anti-piracy crackdown.  Fortunately, I was able to get it reactivated just by sending them a photocopy of my CD-Key, but it goes to show you how it's possible to get banned when you've done nothing wrong.

I think if someone were to cheat in one game, you'd only lose access to the multiplayer portion of that one game. At least, that's the sense I get from reading the Steam boards. It'd still suck, but you won't suddenly be out $400 bucks in games.

I just discovered that my video card comes with a free copy of this game, but the Ubisoft logo on the disc gave me pause.  Anyone know if it's Starforced?
