So rather then buy a baby name book, I figured I would pull an Ironwood and allow for the chance that one of you might have a decent name suggestion...

We have three months to find a name the wife and I can agree on - But I will still mock stupid ones.

I'd prefer Scott Child <Lastname>.  Then they could call him S. Child and wait for the outrage.

Name him something semi- normal but with geeky roots- like after one of the 9 Princes of Amber or something. Corwin, Julian, Benedict, etc.

We were joking about famous war figures and noticed you really don't see many Hitlers nowadays. Alexander made me think of that.

As far as historical tyrants go, the names Ivan, Vlad, and Lil' Kim trump Adolph and Joseph.

There will be no Corwins. Doubtful anything ending in Y or IE. Unlikely to start with the Letter J.

First name: Castor
Middle name: Troy

Other ones I suggested in Ironwood's thread, copied and pasted (post count ++):

Owen (after Xanatos's assistant in Gargoyles- dude had a hand made of stone... I mean literally... that sounds like an innuendo but it's not)
Bruce (after Batman)
Adrian (can be girly though)
Arkady (this one is especially good if you want him to be a mad scientist or serial killer)
Cletus (Do it. Do it now. Name him Cletus.)
Xavier.  It's both the world's most powerful telepath and the coolest character on Guitar Hero.  How can you go wrong?

I like Wayne as a name, but I can't imagine addressing anyone under the age of 30 as Wayne.  Probably because it's both my Dad's and Grandpa's name.

How about August?  I met a guy named that, but he goes by Gus.  I kept thinking it was a waste of a pretty good name.

If you read my baby thread, you'll note that I was totally at a loss for Boys names.  I still am.  I'm still thanking God I got a girl, since I probably wouldn't be happy with the name I picked.

In that thread, I listed all the blokes names, I think, but how about Robert ?

If it was a girl I would have suggested "Lorene." I don't even know how to pronounce it. But it means "small victories."

I can't believe how good I am at thinking up names.  I should write a book.
