Here is the Blue post regarding teir 4.

Quote
There is a tier 4 set for most builds for each class.

The boss drops a "token" for a certain slot for a certain set of classes (it's not really called a "token", but I'm speaking of it mechanically here), which you then turn in for the type of set piece of your choice (ie: for a warrior, the tanking plate or the dps plate, or for a druid you choose between the healing, moonkin, or feral gear).

I think this is a fucking awesome idea. Let people have sets that are designed for their spec. I really like this idea.

And in other awesome news:

Quote
We have reduced the cooldown period for characters that have already undergone a paid character transfer from six months to one month. This will allow players who have already transferred their characters to then move to a different realm after one month if they so choose, to meet up with friends, or just join a different realm community. If you have transferred your character already and are past the one month mark you can now transfer it again if you choose to do so through the Account Management page.

Of course token exchange for items is a great idea from a players point of view.  Darkness Forge was great.  But it doesn't have same the "string you along indefinately" quaity that random loot has which is the whole point of developers making raid content.

EDIT:  I missed the part where you said was a Blizzard CM.  Glad to hear it.

I'm more talking about the fact that there will be multiple teir4 sets for each class, so that a protection warrior and a dps warrior can both have a teir 4 set that suits their builds.

I'm wondering if there will be multiple sets for hunters - ie agility stacked for survival, int and mp/5 for marks, and +pet stuff for BM. Hmm!

They said every class will have multiple sets. Some classes will get two sets, some will get three.

Aw crap.  I'm going to be playing WoW a lot longer than I had planned.  I can see that now.

Why can't other companies come along with this stuff?  I'm tired of this Blizzard needle in my vein.  I'm starting to bruise.

Great idea.  Won't mean much to me though unless they extend the idea to the rest of the gear obtained in the game, not just the raid stuff.

A token system is used for the epic "hard mode dungeon" rewards I believe. That's 5 man stuff.

Hmm.  Last slot already costs 100g.  It would be nice if they sell the BC slot for 25g.  Somehow, though, 200g wouldn't surprise me.

Pretty sure they are at least doing the same thing with the top end PvP rewards also. As for the leveling or non-end game gear you can probably piece together a decent suit to fit your spec being that they seemed to of greatly improved the variety of items that drop. With a bunch of new suffixes for greens, tons of quest loot and stuff from smaller instances.

Very nice!  They are really switching the mechanics over to be alot more player friendly with this expansion.  Thats what they did with the 1-59 game compared to other mmos, now it seems they are doing it when it comes to raiding/end game content.  Unless Warhammer really does create the second comming on PvP, looks like WoW is going to be my mmo for a long time to come.  Cant think of anything else on the horizon that looks promising enouph to get me away from this.

EQ had this system in Scars of Velious though it was more random.

I may be mistaken, but I believe I read somewhere that bank slots cap at 25g in BC.

Yeah, this immediately reminded me of EQ Velious. Halls of Testing in Temple of Veeshan, etc. Unadorned armour pieces you turned in to whichever faction you were allied with in return for that faction's version of your class armour.

Unfortunately people will put in the time it takes to get a set of each, for versatility, and then that will become expected in high-end guilds. Step away from the computer now if you have a tendency to get caught up in that :)

Also, dont forget that chances are everyone will have 20 slot bags by time they hit level 65 (assuming you can cash out at whatever price they go for on your server, or have a tailor in your guild who will make them free with mats)  Thats an extra, what, almost 50+ spaces per character if you count Player Bags, Bank Bags and an extra Bank Bag slot?  And who is to say that 22 and 24 slot normal bags wont make an appearance.

Also, the Tier4 armour - or at least some of it - is going to be dropping in Karazhan, which is either a 5- or 10-man dungeon (I forget which), so it's really going to be the equivalent of the 'old' Teir0 stuff in pre-TBC WoW; as in, you could probably get a PUG together and get these tokens.

From what I've read, not really. Karazhan is going to be a very hard epic 10-man (reset timer and all). Definitely not PUGgable or doable without at least high-end lv70 blues (from the other instances). If I had to use an analogy, I'd say tier 0.5.

Edit: Of course t4 is probably going to be obsolete 6 months after release when blizz releases random_25_man_uberdungeon_02, but at least I'll have comparatively good gear until then. :P

Karazan will definately NOT be your average 10 man dungeon.  It is, from what i recall, slated to be the first of the true "End game instances" in BC, where you are going to pretty much NEED to be level 70 in pretty damn good gear to finish the place.

I poked around in there a while back on a sandbox client (just running around inside the instance, no mobs or other interesting things but the archetecture to see).  Karazan is HUGE.  Im talking easily twice as big as AQ 40.  No joke. talking 7 minutes, give or take, to run (with a 30% run speed modifier) to the top of the tower (which bypasses a whole bunch of optional rooms and wings). It is big enough that the devs are supposed to be working on putting a flightpath INSIDE the instance, that will run you up to a half way point or something.  As a 10 man thing, I expect very very few guilds to be able to field a team which can clear it in a normal week lockout period for some time, untill they have loads of gear and experience in the place.

Not to nitpick, but it takes 8 minutes to get from the entrance of AQ40 to C'Thuns room at +100% movement speed.

while that is true, you have to consider the layout of the place.  There are 2 optioall areas in AQ 40 (bug famil,  Ouro, and Blob are skippable) and a lot of the space is full of very large wandering trash mobs.  A considerable portion of AQ 40 is wasted space, or huge rooms for fighting bosses.

In contrast, think of Karazan as being scholomance, but on a scale that makes it like comparing a primary school to an Ivy League University.   And by saying it took me that long to reach the top of the tower, also consider, that the top of the tower is NOT the end of the instance.  I didnt even realise it till i watched a video of someone touring the place, but I had missed a ramp off one side from the branch leading to the top of the tower, that lead into a nother part of the zone, which was probably twice the size of scholo itself.

Trust me, the place is HUGE.

I wish i could find another copy of the video i watche, but it seems do be gone off of Google Vid and YouTube :(
