...Games for Windows: The Official Magazine. In the November issue they have a short article where they describe pitching the idea to Microsoft, so there is some kind of alliance going on there. The November issue is the last that will carry the CGW title. I'm an old grognard and I hate to see the old magazine go. Now that CGW is in bed with Microsoft, how long until they are bought out?

Why not? It's not like they were doing extensive (or any) mac or linux gaming coverage, and EGM covered consoles.
/Every/ pc gaming mag is 'in bed' with MS, it's the only serious pc gaming platform. I love macs, but I game on a pc.

CGW is still owned by ZDNet, as far as I know. Not much will change, but still it's somewhat sad. I guess. Paper, lolz.

Why am I homeless? Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question. They called it The Prayer, its answer was law Mommy come back 'cause the water's all gone

That's like mocking people for reading books. Some people like the format, even though you could get one of those retarded e-book readers. We have EGM and PC Gamer in our magazine room. Something to read on break, you know, when I want to be away from the fucking computer.

HERESY!!!!! BLASPHEMY!!!!Actually, I tend to agree with you, especially about books. But mostly paper magazines, especially about something as heavily webbed as video games, generally tend to be fucking awful. Badly written, woefully outdated and hopelessly whorey.

Don't put your naked laptop on your lap. I make Righ use one of those surfaces with a beanbag type bottom under his laptop. I worry for his bits. :-(
I have been getting CGW in the mail for four years. It gets forwarded to me from place to place. I don't know who sends it to me or why. I almost never read it.

I like to kinda keep up with what's on the market, but I don't want to read through a bunch of weblinks trying to keep up. I can just flip through PC Gamer or EGM on my break and have a decent idea of the state of gaming in general, things to look into deeper on the web. It's no web replacement, sure. But I enjoy the mags. I read pc hardware mags, too. Again, that whole 'away from the screen' thing, being able to read in a more comfortable position. Hell, if I have anything longer than a 5 page pdf to read, I'll print it out and go find a comfy chair.
