Also if you view the full list of sellers the default sort order is by total cost (price + shipping).

That would be okay if they actually had what I needed.  Some of the third partyers are okay, but wow they need to do some homework on some of these folks.

The one time I've had an issue with a 3rd party seller, Amazon refunded my order within about an hour of my filing the claim.

Just got back from Sonoma/Napa. Drank a ton of wine, managed to smuggle a case of good juice back into Utah with no breakage, and had my 40th B-day dinner at the French Laundry.  Life is good.

Happy bday! See you in WoT!

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

Turning 40 is worth it if you get to do it at the French Laundry. I spent my 40th quietly at home.

I feel that. Except I can tell you what I didn't accomplish.

The thing I apparently need to do by next week, which was on my "to-do" list for October. Because when I specified what delivery I planned to put it in, apparently it did not occur to my manager that I mean, you know exactly what I said.

Instead, he wants it done by Wednesday-ish. Which he only informed me of today.

I accomplished proving that I lost the insulation between 2 windings on a transformer resulting in a giant short.  That took all of 4-5 hours to do.  The rest of the time was looking at items for inventory and coming up with some numbers for the boss man regarding said transformer failures.

Looks like my XBL account got jacked.  Person bought 10000 points and Fifa 11.   swamp poop

Just finished cancelling my credit card and changing the password on my XBL account.  Fun fun.  I think it's time to go through all of my online accounts and get them on better/different passwords.

edit: Just have to say, Chase is very good about this shit.  One charge was already reversed before I called and I get the new card on Tuesday.

Had a slightly-strange girl insinuate herself into our small group while waiting outside before Otakon one year and then tag along with us for perhaps an hour or so. She was even keeping a journal for her entire day, apparently.

It was a little strange, but meh...no harm no foul, I suppose.

Today at work, I accomplished determining that I needed to put double quotes around the values I passed into timegm() so that perl does not interpret 09 as an invalid octal.  If any language ever needed the ksh equivalent of "set -xv", it's perl.

Yesterday, I accomplished configuring some VMAX devices for use in a symclone operation, and documenting the process.  One step is "run this script I wrote".

Hmm. Even money it was a psych student. :)

Yeah, yesterday I finally found the function I need to...let's call it "adapt" which his a complex math problem solved via use of an undocumented, recursive function (with calls to yet another recursive function) and liberal use of the 'continue' keyword.

Fucker. I want to track him down and kick him in the balls for that shit. (Not the recursive part. That's probably the only real way to solve that. No, the goddamn poorly coded undocumented goddamn function. With stupid and uninformative variable names).

I'm betting she was just a crazy fan girl.

Otakon brings out some of the worst.  I don't know what it is about that place.  No other con I've worked made me worry so much about the sanity of people.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

Then not a psych student, unless she was a particularly clever one. It's always fun when you can make "work" and "play" coincide.

God dam it. Why does Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania have to be in the middle of nowhere with zero airports or train stations. Not looking forward to this drive one bit.
