My first tomato from my proto-garden is imminent.

Though I hesitate to photograph it because I don't want to get yelled at for all the weeds :) NOT THE WEED, just regular old 'yeah, I should weed that' weeds.
You should try an Earthtainer to grow them in. The name sounds ridiculously hippy, but the actual thing is a DIY with cheap stuff from hardware store container that means effortless tomatoes.

Let me recommend Ranier cherries.

Nebu is right.  Do this.  They'll cost you an arm and a leg compared to pretty much any other type, outside Washington, but they're so worth it.

Bings are pretty similar (and I actually prefer them myself.)

I must be one of those weirdos that actually uses a pivot table to view relevant data from a DB extraction.  Today I wanted to use a logical OR in a label filter but seems there is no function for that... not one I can see anyway.  MS needs to get on board the regex wagon.

Oh and Yegolev you have one other option. Become a consultant! Open your own boutique IT consulting firm.

This is a distinct possibility since I have discovered a way to do this for AIX, which is pretty much all I'm good at.

OK, so I don't want or need MS to implement regex.  What I do want is to be able to search, using any method, for something like "^[pv]\d\d[ih][xa]\d\d?\d?".  In the interim, I do multiple searches and copy-paste into a new sheet.

The main benefit I get from the pivot table is the ability to quickly reveal select columns that I care about, then search/sort/etc on that stuff.

I just found out a good buddy's mom and dad were in a bad car wreck.  His mom died and his dad in in the ICU with major chest trauma.   ACK!

It really, really sucks when people you know well die like that.

NOOOOOO! A caprese salad is a fate worse than death!

Fried green tomatoes with spicy remoulade on top of grilled tilapia on a cracked wheat bun. YUM!

Funny you mention this. We are actually in northern Oregon this week on vacation and we stopped by a cherry orchard in The Dalles owned by the family of a close friend. We have maybe 8? lbs of Bing cherries in the fridge, picked fresh off the trees just 2 days ago. While Rainer cherries are good, fresh Bing are awesome. I did learn that most "good" Bing cherries end up going overseas where Asians/etc pay a premium for them - the ones that end up in the local US grocery store are usually the less-than-stellar ones.

Tomatoes are easy to grow, they are almost weeds.  Worst part is caging or staking.

And squirrels. Ours always end up feeding the damn squirrels.

So I'm currently admitted to the hospital. I have a split room. I'm beginning to thnk no the roomier and his family aren't really human. No family could contain that high a concentrated amount of stupid. The morphine is making it almost bearable.

They say I will be here two days.

Just had my first insalata caprese with tomato and basil out of my garden. Holy fucking shit. Taste buds are ecstatic. Can't wait to have a real garden next summer, going to put in some garlic this fall, I know a local garlic guru who has some great garlic (sadly he's having a tough battle with cancer).

Finally replaced that bad section of steel pipe in the laundry room (4 pipe clamps on a 5' run, plus one new pinhole was forming) with CPVC instead.

Pro : CPVC is way easier to work with

Con : no "just tighten it another 1/8th of a turn" option when you have a 1-drop-per-10-minute leak.   swamp poop

Eek.  Not enough glue on the pipe when you fitted it?

It was a male CPVC fitting to the existing steel thread - I suspect I forgot to clean it well enough.  Much better after $2, a cleaning, and 90 minutes.   awesome, for real

Fixed that for the power of positive thinking ;)  GRATS!!!

We're working on having our third then after that I am definately getting snipped.  If I we were a couple years younger, I would seriously consider a fourth.  But, really not looking forward to the tuition payments when all three are in school.

I have four cats.  Natural pesticide.

I think garlic also must be easy to grow.  I tossed some remains of green onions into the garden as fertilizer and the damn things sprouted and grew bulbs.  That there is fucking recycling.  Also my garlic seems to be able to sprout while in the refrigerator.

Well.  That's going to be an interesting conversation with the doctor on Monday.

And I'll go against the grain and say - if you guys planned to have kids eventually - congrats and good luck!  If not, then there are options.

Gardens - I'd love to have a garden sometime, but sadly the part of my yard which gets the most sun is the front, and that's not optimal for putting in a garden, IMO.

Found it. Making my way through the entire star trek movie libsary. And trying to get a private room.

Edit: Rhyssa we did. In fact I'm ancient so the sooner the better. I'm just not celebrating til a doctor officially checks and tells me everything is OK. I don't want to get excited and then find out she has a ectopic pregnancy or something.

What's that endometrial stuff you mentioned?
