They probably have a trench dug to divert the lava away from the town. If that doesn't work, duck and cover.
Just think though, if you can divert a river to it, it'd be an awesome supply of obsidian. You may need a 12 step program in the near future.....

62 of 65 people found the following review helpful: Size 62 to 36 in a weekend!, December 28, 2010 By David M Lewis This review is from: Medline Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass - DYNJS0303 - Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass - Qty of 3 (Health and Beauty) Here I was, borderline Guinness Book, and no health insurance. Did I vote democratic? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got down to business. The tricky part was anesthesia, but nothing a Mickey's Big Mouth and a couple of roofies couldn't handle. Next thing I know, I had a wrap on the old tummy, and I wasn't hungry! Even for wraps!
Trust me, I couldn't finish a whole mung bean if I wanted to, and I can't even think about popsicles!
Get this! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000K6OQFYThe other reviews make this almost as good as the old gallon of milk item.

So I went and saw something called Cirque de la Symphonie last night. It was basically a cirque de soleil type deal to symphony music. I had never seen anything like this and was pleasantly surprised. Now I'm a bit pumped to try to go see a real Cirque performance.

The real Cirque performances are usually bloody amazing. I try and see their shows whenever possible, and I have even attended conventions in Vegas just to catch a show. They are not for kids though, I think my daughter still has nightmares about a performance we took her to a few years ago.

I've seen a couple around the world. My only recommendation would be to try and see one that's either in a permanent venue, like the Bellagio, or to see one with a purpose built venue. Though overall they're pretty great

Ha, their traveling show Kooza was the one that scared my daughter so much that we had to leave halfway in to the show.

Definitely see a Cirque show in Vegas if you can. The husband and I saw Mystèrè (bah, think I have the accents right) at Treasure Island and O at Bellagio on previous visits and both were freaking fantastic. O especially, since you don't really expect water when going to a performance like that. And I love the music as well, it really sets the mood for everything, IMO.

If I ever make it Vegas I will definitely make that a priority. I have put off going to Vegas for a lot of reasons, most of which deal with the fact that there is high likelihood that I will get in trouble if I go.

My fiance was a world level competitive acrobat in her youth, she spent the entire show pointing out how easy all their tricks were.

My impression has always been that Cirque is artistically excellent (if a bit weird) not technicallly excellent.

I'm sure that for a world class athlete, the stuff Cirque does wouldn't be technically difficult. But those kinds of people aren't their audience. The average person wouldn't be able to do 1/4 of those tricks, so to them/us, it's really cool and awesome. Yeah, I can see how easy some of the tricks are as well, that didn't diminish the cool factor because there's no way I'd be able to do them.

I wasn't debating any of that. Just pointing out the polar opposite experiences Oban and I had at the same event.

For 99% of the audience what they are doing would be termed "technically difficult" if not downright dangerous. I don't mind if it isn't that difficult for the performers. I still enjoyed the performance I saw.

I was at this rock concert with a professional guitarist and he wouldn't stop talking about how they were only using 3 chords and nothing that was happening was all that technically difficult.

Ah, is that what you were trying to convey? No it had nothing to do with the technical skill or the acrobatics, my daughter was scared by the costumes.

Just remind him that Clapton made a living off of 3 chord songs I find that the older I get, the more I enjoy melody over a good technician. Sorry Mr. Satriani.

That is funny. Guitar guys are almost ubiquitously of the attitude that if it isn't difficult to play it can't be good music.

Which is why I don't get along with most musicians. I play for me and enjoy listening to good songs, regardless of technical expertise. A technically masterful song is not necessarily good just as a simple 3-chord song is not necessarily a bad song.

I turned 40 on Saturday without anything falling apart, which is a good thing. The ceiling of my laundry room fared less well, as half of it's on the floor of the laundry room after a pinhole leak that sprung last night. Luckily I had a pipe clamp from the last time a leak sprung, but I detest doing sheet rock work. It's just annoying.
