Also mm/dd/yy is dumb.

Why the hate?  I've been documenting lab notebooks and charts like this as long as I can remember.  Is it a programming or military thing?

US Military goes Year/Month/Day for most official comminication.  For example, July 12 2005 would be 05JUL12.

edit.  Incidentally - you were right about my Guardian.  Just hit level 63 and having a blast!  Group play is much, much more fun now.

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

No.  12JUL05 is the correct format.

It's a Euro thing.

I like yyyy.mm.dd myself, but that's because computers sort that format the most logically.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

It's also good for sorting, it's how I tend to file things on our server. But in my mind everything is mm/dd/yyyy, and my own computer files tend to follow that format for whatever reason.

I'd love to use the metric system, too. It makes so much more sense. But my brain, it's Imperial!

As Lantyyssa said, it's so much easier to sort folders/files on the computer using the yyyy.mm.dd format.  I keep folders with information by month and it's so much nicer if I title them as such - "2011-01 January" "2011-02 February" than trying to go by month/year instead.  Especially if I have multiple years in an archive.

I did get used to using Euro notation for dates though, but only if it was in a format like 05JAN2011, because just using straight numbers would mess me up trying to figure out if it was US or Euro notationwhen looking at a date such as 12/01/2011.

All my lab notebooks and computer files\archives\else are formatted this way.  2011-01-12.  Sorts perfectly, makes sense, no question about what term is what.

There is a horrible scene going on next door. Some dickbag father screaming and acting like a child in an argument with his daughter.  She is crying a whole lot and all sorts of unpleasantness. I don't know what to do it is really upsetting.

I write it like 13 Jan 2011. I know it's backwards in terms of endianness, but in terms of day-to-day dates the "13 Jan" part is "more significant" since the current year is usually assumed. Crossed 7's look weird to me but I do cross my Z's. Else with my terrible handwriting they look like 2's when I'm doing algebra.

My u a and n all look about the same (as do my g y and q), my capital F is like WAP's 7 (I blame Leo Fender), and my 8 looks like a 6 with a hunchback. I'm a mess with handwriting, too many years trying to emulate Abdul Alhazred.

My mother frequently informs me I have terrible handwriting and that I need to devote some time to learning to write properly or else I'll be plagued by people not understanding anything I write.

Aside from the word processor thing, she's the only person to ever complain that my handwriting is unclear but she doesn't seem to have problems reading anyone else's. Mum's are odd methinks.

Or something.

I can't do cursive worth shit, but my printing is fast and legible. I blame it entirely on two years of Drafting class in highschool. And yes, by Drafting I mean standing behind a big ass table and drawing things with a 3H pencil. Ingrained how to print in to me. I fully expect the next generation of kids will be unable to functionally use a pen (yet will be far better typists than me).
