My god, it snowed in south east Virgina for x-mas!  ACK!

First time I have had an almost white Christmas in a good long while.

Its awesome.  We have around 6-8 inches already here in Hampton Roads.

My snowthrower broke today, halfway through clearing the driveway. The back deflection plate shattered, so unfixable sad So either I pony up $500 or so for a new better one, or I get used to shoveling again.

Snowed in Georgia and Alabama. People of course don't know how to drive in it, so they insist on going 35 in the left lane.  Ohhhhh, I see.

I was supposed to drive through AL and GA today on my way to SC.  I opted to leave tomorrow due to SNOW in Birmingham and Atlanta.   ACK!

I made the mistake of NOT waiting a few years back (2002?  Whenever last major snowstorm shit on the southern states) and that was one of the most frightened times in my life.

You made the correct decision.

You're going to have to wait until the spring thaw to get out and buy one though.  Quick, someone call Sky to come save Rattran!

I love shoveling snow. It's great exercise.

Oddly, Sky and I have the same car. I just had mine first. And I can get out just fine, flatmate with his little Tracker has trouble with an unplowed driveway.

And I got pictures from the GF of the massive 2" of snow in SC today. And heard her horror stories of the way people were driving/crashing in it. Her cats seemed to enjoy playing in it at least.

Ironic.  Things are only just starting to melt in Scotland.  I've been waist deep for weeks.

Shovelling snow might be fun - for the first 7 days.  Then it gets old really quick.

The only time and place I want to see that amount of snow is at a ski resort.

Day 2: The snow has gone away in Georgia. People are now dealing with small patches of ice they heard about on TV but don't actually exist anywhere in the city. They still make no attempt to learn how to operate a vehicle at normal speeds.

I can't find a 3 bedroom place to rent for less than $1000, but can buy a 4 bedroom house with no money down for $160k @ 4.8%.

Ever see someone in a random public place that you're about 80% certain you knew at some point but you can't figure out who or where from?  I wish I'd just run the 20% chance of getting maced and introduced myself, because this is driving me fucking nuts now.

Throw in taxes and maintenance and you still are not under $1000.

You keep the heck away from me.  I just got over my own bout with that shit last week and my insides are still sore.  Ended up dropping six lbs from it.

What I learned about the stomach flu:   splashing a little water on the face, does not, puke in the beard, remediate. why so serious?

Bored.

Boring.

Oh gods, give me something to do here.

Why does any company bother being open the week between Christmas and New Years?  It's not like anything really gets done, except that PM bugging me about the status of a PO in progress.  Like it's going to get approved considered the entire management team has been on vacation for the past two weeks.

Hope all you sickos feel better soon.

My last company was like this.  Open for like 3-4 days between.  It was SUCH a waste of time.  I usually ended up going in the back and working on mad scientist projects with zero funding.  I like my current job: machine off from December 17th to January 3rd, go home and stay there.

I closed my office for the holidays, which is actually probably a mistake-  kids are off of school so the parents want them evaluated for braces.  Oh well.

While it sucked to use the vacation days, HP did at least close during this week for people not in a customer facing role.  If you weren't necessary to some function (e.g. an engineer for mission critical) then you were expected to be off.  It was nice and came in handy planning time around the holidays.

I've been catching up on my fanfiction reading (I had story alerts from last year still) and sketching and honest-to-dog sleeping in my office chair.  It's not that uncomfortable, except I've discovered I have a tendency to put my tongue between my teeth and bite down when I sleep sitting up.
