Tonight's drama?  Apparent domestic at the new neighbors across the street.  The ones that moved in almost exactly a month ago over Memorial Day weekend.  Initially thought they were a young couple with one young boy.  Oops, there's an older boy, too.  Okay, scratch going over to say hello now.  Oh wait, there's also a young(est) girl now as well, along with two little yappy dogs.  Marvelous.

So anyways, noticed a local cop car parked in front of their house while finishing up dinner prep.  Then see another arrive.  End total was 3 marked cars and 2 unmarked cars.  This started about 8pm or so.  Finally ended at 11:45 when they finally cuffed mom and took her away (dad got cuffed and sat in the car for a good half hour before they took him away between 9-9:30).  The majority of the time for the whole call seemed to be related to the disposition of the 3 kids and even after the grandparents arrived, it still took over an hour to get things straightened out.

Scanners FTW.

Check your local police blotter.  We had this happen a week ago several houses down.  Apparently there was a quiet neighbor where the mom tried to kill the 2 adult kids and some grandkids.  Police had the entire house wrapped off with tape, 3 unmarked cars, the fire department, and 4 police cars.  They had the entire block full of cars blocking the street for 2 days.  My neighbor and I were curious so we looked in the local paper (gang violence\drug violence == bad for us, domestic violence\family thing == not as bad) and found the article about it.

Oh yeah, we already know which paper this should appear in by tomorrow (since it was so late ending last night) and plan to look it up.  This incident gets added to the bank robber from earlier this year that lives at the end of the street.  He's out on bond now awaiting trial.  Exciting times for a dead-end street with all of 15 houses on it total.

Crazy times job wise.  Getting pissed that WWE is not distracting me enough.  Also, not enough domestic disputes in my neighborhood.  I need entertainment!

So, newspapers already have something up about this.  Ugh, certainly didn't expect this reason.  And even crazier, I had no clue there was a fourth kid/infant in the place.  That's just freaky now and the woman is only 23?!  Yikes.  But at least I was right that it was a domestic (at least initially).

Sounds like the neighborhood I moved out of. My city is a nice mix of racist redneck locals and urban blacks and puerto ricans displaced from NYC via a local prison. IT'S FUCKING AWESOME. I'm torn between the black kids moving in and throwing their shoes over the power lines or the rednecks moving in and hanging up rebel and nazi flags. You can tell the racists are classy if they use a gadsden flag nowadays.

I can answer that. SHIT. It'll look like shit. Every design I do these fucking days has to have special allowances for three fucking shitastic flavors of IE, including 8. It's better than say, 6 or 7, but not fucking much.

Interestingly, I find that all of the text is fuzzy on everything.  I briefly checked into what I could do to un-fuzz things and decided that it must be Compatibility View, which is applied to anything *.ko.com and causes me to wonder if my glasses are dirty.  It also blurs my IM client, which is fan-fucking-tastic.  I am probably going to disable it completely and let the chips fall where they may.

As for my own XHTML/CSS code, it is so dead-simple that I am hoping for just minor changes to container sizes and line wrapping.

Yep.  And I liked how they were arguing (doesn't say over what, I'll go with Yegolev's theory) and she didn't like his tone of voice, so she called the cops?!

@Signe - Illinois, sadly.  :(  I wish we could move.  It's not fun knowing we live in probably the biggest joke of a state around.

Definitely my old neighborhood. You look at the white trash next door and she'd call the cops. Then when they show up, lecture them on the law. She's lucky she never got hauled away, but I never cared enough to file charges, I found it amusing.

Updating from Vista/32 to W7/64, with me luck!

(this better go smoothly Microsoft)

EDIT: Fuckers. Apparently, Vista 32 home can't go to win 7 pro with out a reformat. The dicks at best buy suck. So does the info on this box that just says "any version of vista".

You're better off with a fresh install anyways. Never seen an 'upgrade' process go 100% smoothly. Always something down the line comes and bites you on the ass.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

I really really don't want to reinstall everything, but I understand what you mean. I'm thinking i'm going to just step down to home premium instead of pro, after reviewing the original thread here, I don't think I need pro really, and everything says i can just upgrade using that from where I am at.

I'm not sure, but I don't think you can upgrade from 32 to 64 bit, no matter what edition.

After researching some more, you are correct.

So, I took back the pro version to best buy, got a refund. Hopped over to Samsclub, bought a 350gb external drive, and 7 home premium. All told, I saved 12$ (VS. what I paid for just pro at best buy). Now to set aside some time to copy over, install, and replace everything.

Well, I think so.  I will just assume you are not hinting at anything subtle as for what I need to do in reference to her odd behavior.  I suppose she is, today, genuinely impressed at the particular type of work I am currently doing.  Extra-impressed, even.

ITIL v3 training.  First day (Yesterday) was a huge infodump, so here's hoping today and tomorrow are much better.  Not a bad class and the instructor's pretty good, but I was exhausted last night.  Being lazy and out of work has ruined me.
