While it may seem odd, those prices aren't too bad, who gives a fuck about quality. Caskets are friggin' nuts if you buy one through the funeral home (another parlor!).
Actually, I should buy a casket. You know, try it out, make sure it's a good fit. Keep it in the corner.
Yeg: congrats, man. Buy a celebratory casket!

People that worry about casket quality tend to bother me. I was planning on a coffee can, but at these prices I might just leave a corpse behind.

Hey, that's a good deal. In other news, I will be an HP employee on January 1. Also, Iain now knows who I am on FaceBook. Hey, congrats to you! I hope you love it! Also, I'm all for being cremated in a cardboard box. Just scatter my ashes in the dumpster behind Walmart. I won't mind and they probably don't care, either.

The part that does the same work I am doing just this minute, which is AIX/SAP/Oracle/DB2/random support at The Coca-Cola Company. So, same job with different boss. IT is funny. Oh, right, The Coca-Cola Company is doing a huge outsourcing deal with HP where HP will take assume control of the data centers. FYI.

It is a good development. I'd rather do IT for an IT company than for a manufacturing/marketing company. Not to get into the employment details, but there is not yet any negative attached to the transistion except that I might not get any more free soda. There are positives, too. Finally, my favorite color is blue. I knew I wasn't going to get any time to relax. Why was I worried?

The downside I've see to this sort of outsourcing the local IT staff is that they sometimes spontaneously decide to ship you off to somewhere less attractive. Probably not an issue (and not always a bad thing anyway).

Ear has been ringing for the last 4 days though. Fucking annoying like fuck. What fun life is.
Sorry to hear that. I've had tinnitus for over twenty years now. A coworker just developed it this year and she's been complaining about it, I just have to chuckle. "It's tough to get to sleep, I always hear a ringing!" I don't know what silence is, I haven't heard silence since I was a kid. Though it's been so long I mostly don't notice it anymore, unless I think about it (like right now, it seems loud as hell because I'm discussing it). Kids, wear ear protection at concerts and especially if you're a musician. Yeah the ringing doesn't bother me that much, I've been also to sleep ok. It's just the fact that the ear damage was 3 and a half year ago (I assume), and it's only started ringing this last week. So I'm paranoid that it's getting worse or there's something else going on too. The ear and throat being sore doesn't help either. But I'll survive.

Ironically I just got some odd work news also. I rolled into work today and began transferring documents and whatnot - my boss sends an e-mail out saying I am still management, then e-mails me something about something else I am not allowed to talk about. Except it may not happen. But to hang tight. I have no idea what is happening. Yo dude, do you get some type of commission for referrals? I am about to drop 3-4k on stuff from them in the next few weeks. Let me know!

It's just the fact that the ear damage was 3 and a half year ago (I assume), and it's only started ringing this last week. So I'm paranoid that it's getting worse or there's something else going on too. That's the problem with hearing damage, it doesn't always manifest itself right away. One bad ear experience without protection and you can be damaged for life, even if it takes a few years to truly reveal how bad. All of the little things over time do add up too, so if you weakened your ear once already, all the day to day loud noises can contribute to making the problem worse. Everyone gives me a hard time for vacuuming the house, mowing the lawn, attending rock concerts, working on my car, and performing electrical work on the job... all with ear plugs in. I like hearing and music too much, I want to be able to hear it for a long time. So far I've been lucky.

Man, I thought "gets free soda" was bad. Small fucking potatoes compared to "i can has discount?" The downside I've see to this sort of outsourcing the local IT staff is that they sometimes spontaneously decide to ship you off to somewhere less attractive. Probably not an issue (and not always a bad thing anyway).
I'm going to be assigned to the Coke account for at least one year, probably a minimum of two. At least 40% more people were taken on by HP than the outsourcing consultantcy originally submitted, which is due to the fact that we are horribly understaffed and generally damn good... have to be to hold this shit together with so few people. HP was smart enough to see this and is also making it obvious that they want me to be happy. Which, yes, is a good thing. I'll return the favor by making them happy, with the assumption that I'll have a larger field to play in at an IT corp. Hell, I might learn some HP-UX. The irritating bit is that I bought a new HP OfficeJet last month.

I just bought an HP wireless all-in-one printer, it's good that now I have a direct line to tech-support. I'm taking the day off from work. I've been struggling with a cold that's been dragging on more than a week now so I am hoping a weekend of doing nothing but drinking hot tea and lounging around in my sweats will get me over the hump. Yes, that's right, I am sick, on drugs and bored. I will be shitting up the boards more than usual.

She means press conferences. Ironwood should hold a press conference where he publically apologizes to his wife in front of national television. Women TOTALLY DIG IT. Just ask Elizabeth Edwards.

I should get back to nature, too. You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer. Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached. Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

If your frame of reference is Irish coffee (as in coffee available in Ireland, rather than coffee with a slug of Jameson's in it) then I can understand you being impressed with American fare. Don't try the tea however. The only good tea in the US is at the bottom of Boston harbour.
