I'm a morning person and drag to a standstill around 3:00 'normal' time and I'm useless by 4:00. This wouldn't be a problem if I weren't forced to a 'standard' work day schedule and could instead come in around 6:00 so I could leave by 3:00. However I had one of my most productive days in a while today, even after being off the caffeine for about a month now. Yay DST.

I'm thankful to be in AZ when dst rolls around. It just becomes part of the minor jet lag when I leave here. And then I get a free hour sleep in the fall!
Morning people make me want to kill. Even with caffeine, mornings shouldn't start until 11am at the earliest. 3pm would be even better as a reasonable start to the day. And sunrise is a perfectly good bedtime. That said, going to a 6 day week worked great for me the times I've tried it.

I'm so in between. Some days I wake up at 5:30a refreshed, others I can't get out of bed before 10a (even with falling asleep at regular times).
Then there's mornings like this morning where I snoozed (7min intervals) for 3 1/2 fucking hours.
Who does that?!

Me, too. Especially friday morning, because our local open mic /starts/ at 10pm. What the fuck is wrong with people? Two weeks ago I dropped in at 9:30 to get on the list, but there were already four acts on there! Fuck. Get fucking jobs, you drunk douchebags. I just chatted with our local blues bassist, finished my beer, and went home. It's half about how late everything is, but more about sitting around bored out of my mind in a fucking bar, I've always hated bars. I snooze for at least 45 minutes every day. I literally can't make it out of my bed until it's almost too late to make it to work. I almost hate my luscious new ubercomfy bed and cozy cat. I have to be careful because my clock will stop snoozing after an hour. Guess how I found that out.

I am definately a night owl by nature but since I eliminated my after lunch caffeine intake and quit smoking I have found it easier to get up in the morning. I personally think I was having unnoticed nightly nicotine withdrawals that interfered with a good nights sleep.

I've always been a night owl by nature even before I moved out west, but I've never been able to readjust back to Eastern time since moving back. DST just makes it that much worse.

I've been on a fucked up schedule since I was like 7 and got HBO in my room. By the time highschool came around, I failed utterly. Don't do well at normally scheduled jobs to this day.

I am one of those people that prefers to be a night person, but can't. I had a choice of starting work at 6:00 AM and having a 25 minute commute, or starting at 8:30 with a 50 - 60 minute commute. So now I am a morning person. It is nice getting home mid afternoon though.

Was waiting for our FDA-like entity to accept it into the country, and they finally did, but classified the damn thing as A3, which is a category reserved for psychotropic drugs capable of causing addiction, like, well, loads of different kinds of amphetamines, thus requiring a fancy prescription usually reserved for people seeking legal cannabis, codeine, morphine and opium. Curse them!
I take it it's as awesome as most anecdotes say?

It's more awesome than the anecdotes.
I made a trip from Baltimore to Durham in one sitting stopping only for gas, I started the trip at midnight after being up since 9am the previous day, and then hung out through the next day there.
One of my friends drove from Baltimore to Florida in one sitting.
I used it to marathon a few mmorpgs as well.
It's *awesome.* And I used to be able to get samples from a pharmaceutical rep. It's the ONLY drug I've ever used recreationally, unless you count NyQuil a drug *robotrips.*

Amphetamines are much cheaper and more available. Sure, they have more potential problems... it's all about value!

If I could make modafinil in my kitchen, I'd be in prison for "intent to distribute" even if it was all for me. All of it.

JUST LIKE DIABLO 2. What a fantastic name. If I bottle it, I'm going to make sure it opens up with a ping like a dupont light and each pill will be gold colored.

Two people are wildly speculating about how to get it, make it and convince other people to do the same. What do you think?

Considering it doesn't get you high and you basically don't feel different in any way at all, I'd say it's non-habit forming. Also, the fact I saved and used what little I had in Necessary situations nowhere near eachother, I'd say it's not. There's no euphoric benefit whatsoever of it. It's just a great drug for defeating the enemy. That enemy being sleep.

If I recall correctly, it's a schedule IV. There's little worry about dependence. I assume that the effectiveness will decrease with time since it's primarily metabolised by CYP3A4 and upregulation is pretty common (i.e. like alcohol loses its kick with time albeit by a different enzyme).

And that's the other reason I used it months apart Seriously though, modaf is the shit. God bless the air force.

I thought that too, made me remember a short story I read ~25 years ago about someone waking up in the middle of the night because the moon was REALLY REALLY bright and he worked out it must have been the sun going nova and everyone only had a few minutes left to live before it obliterated the Earth. Memory is awesome. Plus, I'm a morning person, always have been.
