You know what is annoying? Spending ten minutes composing a response to a thread, clicking submit, and then finding out that it has been locked and Denned by the guy who started the thread...

Therefore, I shall respond to it here in cribnote form:

In Bruges, Farrel, Ledger, Baldwin, NPH, none of the above, and Paquin? Seriously?

You know what's annoying?

Seeing lists on other websites, thinking they added TV to the Oscars, copying the list, and then feeling like a tool.

All I see up top is "You must have JavaScript turned on to view all MapQuest features. Find out more information »".
 awesome, for real

Ahaha! Loser.  Ohhhhh, I see.

How would you notice there was a banner removed when in the dead center of the page is a richly animated ad for a struggling travel company.

Heh the banner was on subsequent pages, our homepage has always had that 300x250 ad unit. And we don't care if a struggling travel company wants to pay us $8 CPM to put an ad on the home page, as long as it's not crappy like some of the advertising.com stuff we get. The online ad world is insane. Low overhead/effort with high ROI (usually 100-200%).

Oh, I get it. Google Maps is basically an institution for geeks trhough. Particularly with iPhone and Android implementation. Mapquest is, well, I don't know if anyone here knew there was an ad at the top to begin with.

I really really really didn't mean to start a bash Sky and his FJ (which I kept thinking was a Ford Jeep but Righ has now twice pointed out that it's something else - hehe).
S'ok, I just really, really love my FJ :) It's funny talking about the size, it's actually pretty stubby. About the same length as my fiancee's Matrix, shorter than my mother's Jeep Cherokee or my boss's Impala. A little wider than the Matrix, but only maybe four inches. Just really tall and pretty stubby hood.

I'm closer to Canadia than NYC, here's a picture a block from the library two years ago:

I stopped shaving (thanks, The Shaving Thread) but the hair face meets with disapproval.  Now I use clippers instead but I forget to do so before I shower.

The FJ isn't a Ford Jeep, it's a Toyota Jeep. A most wonderful one. Especially when you Disable TRC/VSC and do snow donuts. It also disables anti-locks, and make sure the engine is completely off when disconnect/reconnecting.

And I think the tow-hitch disqualifies you for the chrome spinners, Sky.
You are the MAN, rattran. That's the first change I wanted to make. Maybe second after disabling the seat belt dinger.

Too bad it disables the anti-locks :( I'd really like to just get rid of the vsc, I think. I use sliding a lot in winter driving and when whatever system kicks in, it cuts my slide and is actually way more dangerous than just sliding. Maybe I could learn to drive with it, but I'm so good in the snow I don't want to bother (besides, my way of driving is safe and FUN).

I really wish I had never started.  I only did it because everyone else was doing it.  Same thing with sex and wearing shoes.  Life would have been so much easier all these years.  My legs would have hair that no one could really see.  The bottoms of my feet would have built up a nice hard, crusty sole and I would have only had to paint laces on to enter the gym.  I could start a lucrative career in pop music or acting without having a bit of talent.  All those missed opportunities!

If you have the 2009 there should be a switch to turn down the vsc at least, but that's the best I've come across so far for completely disabling it in my '08

I was really hoping for a 2009, a few nice little improvements all around. Backup camera would be nice, but I haven't had a problem (yet). I've got a 2008 because it was the model with the big toyotathon sale thingy, 1.9% for 5 yrs.

I was lucky to get a 2008, first one on the lot at the time, and a bunch of small improvements over the 2007. And I decided quite a while ago it'd be cheaper just to buy any car I wanted outright. If I couldn't come up with cash, I couldn't get the car. Fuck financing.

And they still hadn't plowed my road by the time I woke up this morning, so I went out and did some spins and donuts. Then the plow came to ruin my fun. Bastards.

I might have just enough room to pull a donut in my driveway....hmm....

I was surprised at lunch today, another silver FJ behind me at Wendy's drive-thru. I've seen it around town a few times, but I think we are the only two in the city. The girl at the window (who we've known through the library for years) got a kick out of it.

Also want to mention I like the growl it makes. I remember reading early on about the tuning killing mpg...not because of the way it's set up, but because people keep gunning the engine to hear it :)

Last car I bought I paid cash.  The finance guy at the dealer (a real smart ass, btw), looked at me like I was crazy when I basically told him that he could keep his sorry ass credit - I don't particularly like owing people money, thank you very much.  He thought that I should definitely borrow at least 10k, just so that I could use and pay off the credit, for the sole purpose of using and paying off the credit.  Um.

I could have paid cash for my 2004 VW GTI.  They offered me 6 years of financing at 1%.  I'll finance at that rate... seems silly not to.

I have 100k in student loan debt if that makes you happy!

I bought and sold a house or two during the real estate boom (why I could pay cash for a car).  Beyond that, I'm nowhere near financially flush.

I can't believe how many tv shows there are that I've never heard of.  I mean they're on RIGHT NOW - not like a bazillion years ago.  I might stop watching tv all together because I obviously can't keep up.  I don't think I'll really miss it much or be missing much.

I don't want to move to Montana until I check speed limits and drug laws, but barring nothing too crazy, maybe.  I'm not entirely sure about the Luddite stuff.  I think I'd rather be a Shaker but I can't seem to find any to join me up!

Lets start a F13 cult and sell potholders to maintain our lavish lifestyles of internet debate, debauchery and deviance.  House it in an out of the way ranch.. somewhere.  And live out our lives arguing whether or not Moby Dick is a Classic Novel or a literary feat with the equivalence of Pet Cemetery.

I didn't mean for it to come off like that...I just happened to be in a somewhat unusual position that allowed me to do it that one time (and my wife's car too).  The point was that the guy couldn't understand why anyone wouldn't want to pay thousands extra for their car.

I have literally zero debt right now, and I cannot tell you how wonderful that is, particularly given the state of the economy.
