Day 8. DSL is still majorly borked, but the ISP claims it's not their fault. Even though the problem exists between the box on the outside of my house and their CO.

Time to change DSL providers.

Never underestimate middle-age depression sales.

I would've waited a few more years, though. Recession + a little too soon = fail.

Looks like Dokken might be making a money grab soon.

The movie industry did pretty well during the Depression.  Dokken might be onto something.

It's all about keeping it affordable.  A Dokken show for $10-15 entry is something I wouldn't turn away if someone wanted me to go with them.  >$50 tickets?  No way.  I like shows where you get 3-4 bands that don't suck for $20 or so.

Not sure. It's the first I've heard. We walked by sunday and it said Sale Pending.

I did get good news this morning (house appraised out fine, financing phase done), so I assume it's that, but I don't know! It's crazy, but makes sense the way this deal has gone. Of course I'd learn I bought a house by driving by it.

Friend and I tried getting Maiden tickets. Only thing available was nosebleeds parallel to the stage with an obstructed view for around $50. No thanks.
Of course before the end of the first day of ticket sales, there were floor seats on Craig's list for $150+

I'm not that big of a Maiden fan.
I saw them a few years ago at the With Full Force - Open Air here in Germany.

It was great.

Not 150$ great, mind you.

But for 85€ (for 3 days of festival mayhem) it was well worth it.

Also one of the best moshpits I ever experienced.  awesome, for real

I saw Maiden back in the early 90s when Adrian had left the band and Janick was in. I really wish I had seen the 'golden' lineup, but I'd like to see the modern 3 guitar lineup (are they still using that lineup?). Anthrax opened that show with their 'golden' lineup...persistance of time tour. Irvine Ampitheater, great show. Rime of the Ancient Mariner is one of the best songs ever written.

Day 12: Called to see when the tech was going to show up (if ever) and they claimed he was here at noon, noone was home, but everything checked out fine. Called them liars, as I spent all day in full view of the front door and the NID.

Called AT&T, they can offer me DSL! Oh wait, we haven't turned on that CO yet, no dsl for you monkeyboy.
Fuck, I'm stuck going with the His High Satanic Majesty for intarweb.

Yup, still have all 3 guitarists in the band.  It's an amazing show if you've never seen it and I recommend it.  Now you basically have "Golden Lineup +1" and it seriously does not detract from anything.  Adrian doesn't have a mullet anymore so everything is good.

So.... on one of the weirder trips of my life, I am at the Masters with my 77 year old uncle and his friend. I have managed to get sunburnt pretty well, getting up at 6 every morning and we don't have a car and I'm learning how much the US is not designed in any way for people without their own transport.

It's also one of the awesomest experiences of my life, wasn't a huge golf fan but this really has gotten me interested in it. Snedeker's ball ended up under my chair yesterday and the guy next to me ended up stopping Mickleson's ball.

Tiger is much bigger than I anticipated an Mickleson is HUEG in person.  I haven't been to the Masters, sounds like a good time.

My father weaseled his way into being a regular walking scorekeeper whenever the PGA is in town, so he's been meeting a lot of the guys on tour. Kinda cool since he's really into golf, he gets to meet a few pros and spend the day with them.
