I think you should just glare them in the eye and mouth the words "I hate you".
I like the way you think.

Love the sock site, Signe. I bookmarked it, so I can purchase fun xmas socks for everyone in my family. I just hope that if my sig-other pokes about on my computer, she doesn't develop any unutterable 'theories' about why I have a fancy sock site book marked.

I disagree, individual-toe socks, or footgloves as I call them, are hot.

I just explained how we have ten mirrors of our production data to someone who seemed surprised that I didn't know what PL/I is. Apparently we are still running it here. Corporate IT is funny.

PL/1 is a business language and was considered a successor to COBOL. It was big in IBM mainframe shops back in the day.

It is short for Progamming Language One. It was meant to unify business/COBOL and scientific/FORTRAN into a single mainframe platform back in the 1960s. The fact that we still use it is very interesting to me. wikipedia

I'm currently in Prague, and will be for at least the next seven months. All my luggage is in Chicago. Happy Thanksgiving! What brings you to Prague for 7 months, out of curiosity? I always hear good things about the city, so I envy you ;). Not that it makes it better, but similarly, when I got off in Osaka for my year long stay in the area, I found out the assholes had left my fucking luggage in Dallas. And of course, I had to go to class and other stuff the day after I got there. So I got to wear the same clothing I spent roughly 24 hours traveling in (2 hour drive down to the bay area, 1 hour train ride to San Fransisco Airport, several hour flight to Dallas, 5 hour layover through the night, then 14 hour flight to Osaka) for 4 days straight until they got my fucking luggage to me (which was fun in its own right, since when I landed, I spoke no Japanese, and had no idea where I was staying or what my address could possibly be). It was a fun beginning.

I'm teaching English here. Bit of a cliche to come to Prague to do it, but eh, it's a great city (so far... and I wish the damn sun would come out for once) Yeah, I've spent the last four days wearing exactly one outfit, not shaving, etc. I did finally get my luggage today, and I start teaching on Monday, so at least I wasn't showing up to classes unshaved and slightly stinky. There has been a bit of additional fun with the apartment renting process. Neither the realitor I used or the apartment I'm renting from accepts credit cards, which was awkward when I was expected to hand out a huge amount of Czech cash that I didn't have on me when I signed the contract (deposit, first month rent, etc). Prague is not a cheap city to rent in - After hitting the daily limit on my ATM card, and finding it impossible to get a cash advance on my credit card, I gave in and am having some cash sent Western Union. The apartment is pretty kickass, though, and in a fantastic location - Prague 2 (New Town), very close to the metro and trams, and in a quiet neigbhorhood.

Be careful of your car; a friend of mine just had his stolen from a gated community somewhere around those parts. It was a used 2004 Jetta, for chrissakes, and he had only had it for a week. We assume it was parted out; it was never found.

I'm currently in Prague, and will be for at least the next seven months. All my luggage is in Chicago. Happy Thanksgiving! Fuck yeah! I just got back from Slovakia in September. I had an absolutely awesome time, was there almost three months. If you are single, and into females, the scenery is just incredible. There's all kinds of amazing history in that area, Hapsburgs, Nazis, Romans, the Soviets. If you have a friend that speaks Czech (or Slovak) then you should be set for traveling in Poland, Slovakia, or Romania. Hungary is another story and you need to be aware of the way the Czechs and Slovaks DO NOT like the Hungarians. Costs in the cities are probably only a little bit lower than what you would see in the states, but once you leave the major cities your buying power is going to go way up.

Bah. I was hoping to get that round six amazon.com KitchenAid mixer for $129. I just don't bake enough to spend the full price on one imo, but at that price I could!
Also, nice snowy morning today! A little ice, which kinda sucks, but I love the snow!

I'd normally agree. But I'd rather save a thousand on a TV than a few bennies on a mixer.

Given his grief title, I don't think Sky's in the market for a TV. I voted for the mixer too - at that price, it'd be a great gift.
