You guys are going to deride me to hell for this, but I held out on that movie almost as long as Ironwood did. I watched it a couple of weeks ago....but didn't consider all that bad. Simply because of one line:

"I'm not supposed to die!!"

No really, I didn't expect the Rock to be the bad guy. It was funny.

I mean, that's an extremely low bar, but I'd consider it in the upper tier.

Better than anything from the past (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Mario Bros.), better than Uwe Boll (of course), and not much worse than Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, or Silent Hill.

I'd like to see Animal Crossing.

I personally liked the Silent Hill movie, never having played the original video game. I'm sure if I had I'd be screaming at the apocrypha in the film, but considering what a wierd, small audience market the movie had to start with, I thought it did pretty good.

The games are great (and scarier than most movies). The first probably lacks "sufficient shiny", but you should check it out anyways. You could get away with starting with 2 or 3 though.

The movie was cool, if only for the barbed wire-tentacle rape-little girl dancing in a shower of blood scene. It didn't meet my expectations though (but those expectations were more due to Roger Avary, not the games really).

Thing is, I wasn't interested in a Predator Knock-Off.  I wanted to see, er, Doom.  You know, zombies, demons, that kinda thing ?

I thought Descent was excellent, but the first half of the movie was better than the second half, when the drow baddies showed up.  Definitely a nice followup from the Dog Soldiers director.

I wouldn't recommend it if you're claustrophobic.

I have played some of the Silent Hill game.  Just a week or three ago in fact.  It's still pretty good.  I also liked the movie, even with the changes.  I think it's pretty odd how the actors look so much like the game characters.
