And the sadly regular chore of "Oh hey, looks like someone accessed an old email account of mine from...Malaysia, Brazil, and Ecuador. FANTASTIC.".
Which means I had to dig in an account I haven't used in years, figure out what (if any) other accounts were tied to it, or used that email as a login, figure out what password was compromised, what else uses any variation of that password, and basically spend two hours on a Saturday working through this for an email account I really should have deleted years ago but never got around to.
Fuck if I know what they've even do with an account that's 90% spam , junk mail, and old mailing list crap.

well that made me smile. At least it was a Corgi and not a Great Dane?  My girlfriends 11 year old son is a gamer and thinks Fallout 76 will usher in a new age of prosperity and change the world as we know it forever. It will be interesting to see how he handles the release on Xbox. He is trying to get me to play it, but in my mind I am thinking "I really enjoy having sex with your mother and going back to my gaming/MMO mode/lifestyle is probably not a good way for Sexy time to continue"... |

I won my office Halloween Costume contest by dressing as Carl Sagan. Blue Turtleneck, brown cord pants, and a beige blazer that's been in my closet for 20 years.

Reminds me of when one of my first year advisees some years ago shyly confessed he'd read a few things I'd written about gaming and then said, "I can't wait for Star Citizen, my dad let me back it with $400 I earned last summer." Chicago is usually miserably hot in the middle of the summer but it can be nice. It really depends on what you are looking for. Also, spring is about 5 days long (not all in a row) so good luck catching a spring day.  |

It used to have a pretty cool/diverse music scene, but that was decades ago now I think about it. Might still be worth checking out those bars/showplaces where people are huddled up to escape whatever is passing for weather outside... |

There are lots of jobs to be had in IT but some of those are for mainframe, perl, and COBOL. Not all are of equal quality.

Agree, but the money is too good. I don't know why anyone would do this unless they loved computers or money.

I was really good at my previous career, but the pay pretty much caps out at about 3/4 of what I make now (even in places where the cost of living is higher). |
