I assumed being drunk was the only way one should do an escape room.

Nah, it was fun. We had a lot of people, split over two rooms. Given we had a really wide group in terms of interests, abilities, age, etc -- I was actually really surprised that everyone seemed to enjoy it and, you know, actually be part of it. I was kind of afraid like one or two people would be blitzing through, solving all the puzzles.

The we went to the Flying Saucer and drank quite a bit of beer.

Also, I got a crossbow. I'm pretty stocked about that. I've shot bows and rifles, but not crossbows. (I prefer bows to guns. Honestly, I've just always liked something a bit more tactile and a lot more obvious when loaded). Looking forward to getting to play with it, although that probably won't be until November. :(

Also, it does mean I will survive the Zombie Apocalypse.

I've never done one.  I see them advertised in almost every single city across the globe that I visit, so I sort of file them away as a tourist trap thing.  They do sound hypothetically fun, but I'm sure the quality has to vary pretty badly (just like how every major city has a really ghetto "Ice Bar" they try to lure people into to charge insane amounts of money) for a shot.

That still doesn't change the fact, independent of if they are good or bad, that a room full of drunk people trying to escape sounds like a much better time than a room full of sober people taking it seriously.

I've just discovered that Netflix is limited to 720p/2ch on any browser except IE/Edge, or the Windows 10 official app. Explains why I've always thought Netflix was shitty quality.

I'm getting pretty sick of the "outrage-o-sphere" that social media has become. Look, I'm as much of a bleeding heart liberal as anyone, but sometimes you should just let shit go and move on with your fucking day.

Oh no, some old lady made an ignorant comment while you were buying some clothes or toys for your kid.  Big whoop. Life will carry on and your kid is not ruined or probably even affected in the slightest.

This comment brought to you by: work is really boring today.

edit: Apparently, I'm wrong. Honestly, this makes me a little sad that I'm no longer willing to troll people on the internet.

Oh yeah, I can imagine quality being a big difference. I can recommend the one I went to, but I also knew people that went to that one. So, you know, I had personal recommendations.

And yeah, it'd be pretty fun drunk. Not very successful, but pretty fun.

Although for that, the most fun I've had with a game while drunk was playing Pit.

Comedy has been filling the role of serious commentary for a long time now (see: Stewart, Jon or I guess you could go back to Carlin and Bruce but at least back then there were journalists trying to journalist).

It's actually possible that this storm will be making lazy circles around Florida for the next week?

I mean, it's Florida, it probably deserves it. But fuck, that's some disaster-movie grade shit there.

I'm a fan of the path that had it going up and destroying the entire pacific coast of Florida, comes back around to cut the state in half, stops for a breather, then punches Alabama in the nuts.

WTF is up with the path were it jerks erratically around the Caribbean, then suddenly makes a 90 degree turn straight for Louisiana, and apparently explodes as soon as it hits the coast?

Meh, joke all you want.  Tonight's going to be interesting as well since Hurricanes usually weaken before it gets to my house (in Orlando) but this seems perfectly angled to not weaken too much as it goes up.  Projections actually have the west side of the eye brushing up here so we'll see what kind of winds we get (thought they are predicting only a 30% chance of us having hurricane force winds here).

I've actually seen this happen before (though not nearly as tight as a loop) with Hurricane Ivan

Oh that was just Chad's model. He was on a bender the past few days and had a few deadlines so take it with a grain of salt. Besides, no one likes Chad.

I 'm envisioning it taking the current loop, but then hitting a deep current of warm water caused by global warming, picking up steam and then looping back for a return visit 3 days later.

Won't happen now.. but someday son.

Nahhh. Next they'll tell us it'll pick up to a cat-5 on the loop, or will cyclone into a hurricane of hurricanes. Global temp isn't near high enough for that fun yet. More likely it continues on into the Atlantic and dies out, yeah?

Crossiing back over Florida will suck badly for Florida (more rain on saturated ground, everything's already badly flooded and torn to bits) but if it actually hits Florida on the loop rather than passing beneath it, I suspect it'll end up falling apart by the time it's done.

That loop back will come pretty much over water it's already sucked a ton of heat out of.

This media frothing at the mouth claiming the apocalypse is coming with this hurricane is seriously grinding on my nerves. It is as though all the past major storms and their aftermath never really happened. It's a hurricane, it has not happened in a few years. Yes it will suck, but it will not be end of days. Really long for the days when the news reported the news and not constant reactionary editorials.

There's storms and there's storms. Most hurricanes that hit Texas fucked shit up a bit, but Ike? Ike fucked up half the state, decided to fuck Ohio for good measure, then turned into ice storms as it continued fucking it's way to Canada.

It was only like a category 3. Just a wide one that took a very bad path through Texas.

Looks like Matthew is just gonna parallel the coast, throwing middle fingers, high wind and storm surges at Florida. (The storm surge is likely to be one of the worst in decades, which is probably where the real loss of money and life is gonna come from).

So not as bad as landfall, but like an extended fuck you to the state.

The problem the media and government face post-Katrina is that if they don't strike the fear of God into the lazy, uninformed, and self absorbed general populace the populace ignores it and tun turn around and blame the government and media for not properly warning them when it is over.

So they err way on the side of caution.

But it also becomes a crying wolf situation. I pretty much ignore any report of doom storms. I only pay attention to the NWS alerts, and even those are a bit out of hand, but at least they're rationally out of hand.

Heard from my dad this morning, 25mph winds gusting to 40 with some rain. Reports telling him winds should peak at 75 later (near Ocala). At least he was smart enough to live away from the coast. I told him to go get in a couple rounds of golf.

In homeowner news: The electrical work is not going well, judging by the grumbling. (I just wanted two two-prong sockets replaced with grounded ones. I was 50/50 on whether they had ground wires available. One did, not that it was connected to anything). I think right now they are failing to find a convienent, close ground wire to attach to those. (I keep hearing "weak ground" when they find one. Considering I plan to plug my tv-pS4-sound system into one, and a laptop and phone charging setup into the other, I prefer strong grounds please).

I can feel the bill raising.
