You only mentioned that video cameras are unwieldy not that you wanted to head mount (or equivalent) a video camera.

True.  To clarify, I want something less bothersome to carry around than a video camera.

Water-proof or -resistant is also highly desired.  I don't know if there are distinctions between freshwater and saltwater resistances, but I'll be in the salty water.

I took my GoPro to Belize and did some scuba diving with it. I had a scuba mask with a mount that worked pretty well. You would want to get a filter for it to help with the color issues on several dives I got deep enough that the picture was pretty washed out. As far as accessories goes its hard to beat them and the video they take is pretty decent. Make sure whatever you get you buy several batteries for them. I looked a few other manufactures but the accessories are what sold me on it.

Vitamins A through E were named such in order of classification, each as the necessary set of dietary molecules preventing peculiar deficiencies.

Vitamin F turned out to be two distinct molecules curing two distinct sets of problems, and better classified as fats than as vitamins: the essential omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.
Vitamin G had such similar structure to vitamin B that, once noticed, it was renamed B2... first of that now extensive classification: Riboflavin.
Vitamin H also turned out to be a water-soluble bacterial biproduct, B7: Biotin.

At that point the naming convention surrendered, and there was never either an I or a J.

Vitamin K (actually a pair, K1 and K2) carries that letter not because it came after J but because it was named by Germans, because it has properties related to blood coagulation, and because coagulation starts with a K in German.

I don't know where to ask about GoPro cameras.  The response could be long but I really expect a short and straightforward recommendation.  Summary is: trip to Belize; video cameras are unwieldy.
Your phone doesn't shoot HD video?

It does as far as I know, but if anything would be harder to use in the field than a handheld video camera, it would be my S5.  Unless you are suggesting that I strap my phone to my <body_part>, which I submit wasn't obvious.

Did this once, nothing but hair after first 30 seconds.

Forums need a "thumbs-up" ability.

As for Vitamin K, is that potassium?

Nope, just a bunch of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen. Phylloquinone is K1 and menaquinone is K2. Eat your leafy greens.

Huh. My treadmill is being a dick. Slipping and squeaking out of nowhere. I tightened the belt and that doesn't seem to help, and the fan on the motor has started making a weird noise. I'm thinking maybe the belt between the motor itself and the treadmill? Sadly it's old, so no clever auto-tightening feature. I don't even know how to tell if it's worn.

I guess I'll have to figure out who the heck to call to repair a treadmill.

My exercise bike started doing something similar.  It was old too & there were no service replacement parts. It was cheaper to just buy a new one...

Visibility was down to 1/4 mile from all the forest fire smoke in the area yesterday.  Fuck going outside.

Lots of smoke here in Denver and Co Springs. Not as bad as 1/4 mile, but visibility was probably down to 10 miles in Co Springs on Friday evening. (Normally we have "severe clear" this time of year, ie: unlimited visibility).

I live in Houston. Running outside if you're not already in pristine shape is inviting death. Heat index has been between 100 and a 120 for a month now. Hot and fucking humid.

I'm paying to see what's wrong -- I'll risk 125 on a diagnosis to save 1400 on a new treadmill. (if I'm gonna get one, I'm gonna get one that lasts years again. 1000 to 1400 is about what you have to pay). I mean if it's the drive belt, it's like a 50 dollar part.

On the bright side, my city is adding an indoor pool with hours for lap swimming. I'm gonna take advantage of that when it opens.

Well, I live in a low income, high tax area. So in the short term it only saves me a couple hundred a month, since taxes were more than half my mortgage :) It's actually a pain in the butt because now I have to figure out the balance to keep in a (new) account to pay taxes and whatnot. It's always been taken care of by the bank through escrow.

Even though your taxes are stupid, congrats, Sky!  I'm jealous.  I couldn't pay off a cardboard box at the bus station!  I'm pretty sure you have a proper house though.  If you buy a mattress, buy one of those bed in a box mattresses.  Or is it bed in a bag in a box.  Whatev.  My family bought me one for my b-day and it's got lots of support and is still very comfy.  I am actually able to sleep now and then!

Don't buy metal.  I don't even understand that.  It's impossible to sleep on and it just sits there being hard and uncompromising.  I don't know why anyone would tell you to buy metal.  :/  If it were me who had actual money, I would probably adopt a lot of cats and maybe a kid with a good job.

NOT. METAL.

Yeah, we're wild. We already eat well, so it was a relatively normal dinner (flat iron steaks grilled ftw) and then a couple of glasses of prosecco in the evening. Also the 6mo anniversary (cf you can call a not-a-year occurrence that) of her successful surgery, so the house thing was kind of eclipsed by the living spouse(to be) thing.

I've already got a not-metal bed that's pretty swank. We had stayed at a new b&b outside Ithaca that had the best beds ever, so I ripped off the bedding and wrote down what mattresses etc they had, and bought those. Now I hate traveling because no place has beds as comfortable as mine.

But I digress. And blame metal Signe. Everyone was so worried about Skynet, nobody paid any mind to Signenet.

First off, Grats! I hope to be there in another 15 years myself. (Or sooner if we downsize after the kids go off to college)

I gave up on escrow accounts after the last house for two reasons.
1) They never had the goddamn taxes right and I'd be under or over on any given year by several hundred dollars.
2) They always increased my amount of escrow, even on years when they had me overpaying.

So for this house I've done what you're now doing. It's really not the hassle you first think it is once you've got the accounts set-up. I get my PUD and first 1/2 Real Estate tax notifications in May and the second RET in November. Drop a check in the mail and it's done, no different than any other bill.

Plus, it sounds like you're doing the responsible thing and setting up separate account and sweeping/ Direct-depositing 1/12 of the amount a month in. You'll never find yourself in the situation most folks who do it this way seem to run into with the "oh hell, I don't have money to pay!" panic.

The past cannot be changed. The future is yet within your power.

Yep, exactly this. Setting this up while I'm used to having that money disappear anyway. Additionally going to pile in my homeowner and truck insurance amounts, too...because I do forget to set those aside every year :)

Now only 16 1/2 years and I can be freeee!
